Special meeting of the City Conunission was called to order by
NTayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials
present: Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and Wm. P. Jones, Ral-
eigh Erwin, Supt. of Public tiVorks, Carl C. Patrick, City Attorney,
VVm. T!taness, representing :Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, and J. E.
Iy7uldoon, City Clerk.
Mr. Heroz and r1Tr. Lowe, representing the G. H. and S. A. Railroad,
asked the City Commission to reconsider the boundry lines on. their
proposed extension of the city limits, and in doing so to leave
the railroad property out at this time.
The Commission advised these gentlemen they would take their plead-
ing under consideration, and would let them know.
Tt~Tr. ti"Jm. T~Taness, representing ~~yatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, pre-
sented the Commission with plans for an Imhoff plant to be con-
structed at the disposal site. Bids to be accepted and opened
July 1, 19-9 •
rr7r. TrZilton Beck presented a copy of the City of Houston Plumbing
Ordinance to the Commission, for a guide t o be used by the City
in writing a new plumbing ordinance.
Rent control was discussed at length, and it was found there no
longer exists such a shortage in rental housing accomodations as
to require rent control in the City of La Porte. Upon motion by
Jones, second by Crate, the City Attorney was instructed to draw
up and have ready at their next meeting, proper instruments for
having all rent controls in the city lifted and extinguished.
Carried.
BTotion by Crate, second by Jones, to award contract to Sam Goyen
to dig trench for burying garba~e and for burying garbage now on
ground, for consideration of ~3~0.00, said trench to be -501 long,
161 at top, 121 at bottom, and 81 deep.
Carried.
TvTotion by Crate, second by Jones, to contract with V~Ialter Stubble-
field to pick up trash in the Fire Zone, for X50.00 per week.
Carried.

Motion by Crate, second by Jones, authorizing the City Clerk to
pay Ed Niles the sum of ~2, 650.70 for the construction of sewer
mains in Block 69, Bay Front Addition, and Block 153, La Porte,
and sewer manholes in Blocks 90 and 91, Bay Front Addition.
Carried.
