Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer,
with the following members and city officials present : Corcnissioner Jas. S. Crate,
Jr., V'~rn. Maness, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, Jas. A. Mc Cauley,
Building & Plumbing Inspector, Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public YJorks, Carl C. Pat-
rick, City Attorney, and J. E. R4uldoon, City Clerk.
Minutes oi' the last meeting were read and approved.
~;~. Sam Huwieler appeared before the Commission and requested the City to place
some shell on the North side of Iowa Avenue. The City advised him they would do
so as soon as the shell was available.
Mr. Milton Beok appeared before the Commission and requested them to annex the
area West of La Porte. After much discussion he was advised they would consider
the matter and do now have some annexaticm. plans under way.
Mr. Wm. Maness, representing V+Tyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, presented the Comm-
iss ion with a f final statemexYt from George Consolidated, and which they had approved
for payment.
Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a check
in the amount of X980.00, as final payment to George Consolidated.
Carried.
The commission instruoted the City Attorney to write an amendment to Ordinance
No. 366 authorizing a building already in the Fire Zone to be moved to another
location in the Fire Zone for a period of six months, while another building was
being constructed in accordance with Ordinance No. 366, and after above mentioned
time, old building is to be moved out of the Fire Zone.
The Mayor ordered the bids opened on 1 - 1949 ~l~e~rele~k Long feel Base 12 Ton
Truck. Bids open were tabulated as follows

Both submitted bids in the amount of ~69L{..84 for body as per specifications on
file.
Mot ion by Crate, seoond by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a purchase
ord®r to Mc Milian Chevrolet on their low bid of $1,b02.73, for truck.
Carried.

Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a
purchase order to South Texas Equipment Co., Inc., in the amount of ~6~..8t~
for body for truck, as per specificatiams.
Carried.
Upon motion by Commissioner Jas. S. Crate, Jr., duly seconded by Mayor H. J.
Pfeiffer, and carried by unanimous vote, the following Resolution was adopted:
RESOLUI' ION
"WHEREAS , it has been mad, a kn ova. t o the City C ounc i 1 of the City
of I.~ Porte, Texas, that the La Porte Volunteer Fire Department is 3.n need
of additional fire fighting equipment in the nature of an F5 Ford Truck, but
lacks sufficient funds v:*ith t~rhich to make the necessary purchase;
"AREAS, said Fire Department has agreed to maintain and operate
such .additional equipment provided the City of La Porte will purchase such
equipment to be used in the protection of property from fire within the City
of La Porte and in the vicinity thereof in oases of emergency;

"1. RESOLVED: THAT The City Clerk be authorized to issue the
negotiable Hate of the City to be desigr,.ated 'Test Anticipation Note' for~the
budget year of 1~.9; such note to be in the principal amount of Sic Hundred
Dollars 0600.00); to bear interest at the rate of 5~ per oent per annum;
interest payable at maturity; said note to be due and payable on or before
ninety (90) days from and after the date of issuance and to be secured by a
chattel mortgage on one Ford F5 Fire Truck, bearir_g Engine No. 83Q15888;
that said note and chattel mortgage in security thereof be sold by the Direc-
tor of Finance to the First National Bank of La Porte, Texas, at not less than
face value. When such note has been signed by the Director of Finance and de-
livered to said Bank together with the duly executed chattel mortgage and a
duly authent ieat ed copy of this res oluti on, the irdebted.nes s thereby evidenced
shall be fully binding against the City, and the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to receive and receipt for in the name of the City the
proceeds to be derived from such Town.
PASSED on this the 9th day of August, 1~Ci.9, on first and final
reading by 2 AYES-and 0 NOES. APPROVID by the Mayor and attested by the City
Clerk on this day.

AN ORDINANCE.AUTHORTZING-ASSESSMENTS AGAINST ALL LOTS, TRACTS, OR OTHER
--PARCELS OF LAND SITUATED WITHIN THE .CORPORATE ~LI~ZTS OF THE CITY UN WHICH
-TMPR(NEMENTS ARE LOCATID AND WHICH ANY PROPERTY LIlVE THEREOF IS WITHIBT
TAREE HUNDRED (300) FEET FROM ANY MAIN OR LATERAL SEViIERAGE LINE OF THE
CITY; SUCH ASSESSMENTS BEING FOR THE COST OF MATERIAL AND LABOR TU BE
EXPENDED BY THE CITY IN CONNECTING SUCH PROPERTIES TO SUCH SEWERAGE -LINES;
FIktTHER.PROVIDIATG THE METHOD OF"PAYMENT OF SAID COST AND AUTHORIZING SAID
CITY TO ACCEPT THE NOTE AND VOLUNTARY LIEN OF SUCH PROPERTY 'OV~TERS IN
EVIDENCE AND SECURITY OF THE COST THUS EXPENDED,

The Mayor introduced an ordinanc® which was read in full. Cormnissioner
Crate made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read. The motion was
seconded by Mayor Pfeiffer and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mayor
Pfeiffer, Commissioner Crate. NOES.: None. The Ordinance thus adopted

AN ORDINANCE AWARDING SALE ~OF `50,000 INSTALLMENT OF A
X100,000 ISSUE OF WATERWORKS AND SEVER SYSTEM REVENUE
BONDS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas:
That the proposal of Ernest L. Brown, Jr., Houston, Texas, to purohase
at a price of par ark. accruod interest, the.. following described bonds, to-wit
X50,000 City of La Porte Vaterr~orks and Sewer System Revenue Bonds,
dated March 15, 1~Ci.9, bearing interest at the rate of ITf per annum,
maturing as provided in the ordinance authorizing the issuance of
said bonds adopted by the City Commission of the City of La Porte,
Texas, on June 28, 1~,9, being numbered 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, ,13, 15,
l7, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 3~+, 37, ~.o, 43, 1~6, . ~-9, 50, 53, 54, 57, 58,
61, G2, 65, 66, 69, 70, 73, 74, 77, ?8, 81,82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87,
88, 89, 90, 91, g2, 93, 94, and 95, and being a part of the X100,000
installment of bonds authorized by sair3. ordinance,
be and the same is hereby aoeepted. Said bonds shall be delivered to the
said Ernest L. Brov~m, Jr., subject to the unqualified approval as to the
legality by the Attorney General of Texas and municipal band attorneys
designated by the purchaser.
That, the Attorney General of Texas is requested to appra~ve only the
bonds numbered out of the X100,000 in principal amount of bonds authorized
in said ordinance and to ho]r~. the remaining X50,000 until further orders
of the City Commission.
PASSES AND APPROPED this 9th day of August, 1~.9.

It was recommended by the Mayor that the City annex territory West to Under-
wood Road, thence North to Ship Channel, East with the Ship Channel to High-
way ]1.i.6, thence with Highway ]!G6 to present city limits. The Mayor then out-
lined on the map to the City Attorney the exact area desirod to be annexed.
Upon motion by Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and duly seoonded aBd oaxried by unanimous
vote, it vira"s ordered that the territory out lined on the map be annexed to the
present city limits of La Poa~te. `fhe City Attorney was instructed to prepare
ordinance with proper field notes, and to have ready not later than August
]2th.
Upon motion by Crate, sec and by Pfeiffer, this meeting was recessed, subjeot
to call "of the Mayor.

The regular meeting of the La Porte City Cor.~nission held. osi August ;ath,
1;x.9, which was recessed at 1:00 P. n?. on said date, subject to the call
of the Mayor, was reconvened or_ this date at 10:00 o~clock A. Dtf., and
galled to order by the Mayor, vrith the following members and city officials
present : Mayor L~. J. Pfeiffer, ComuLi.ssicner Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and Garl
C . Patrick, City Attorney.
Upon reconvening, the minutes were taken ~~y trae City Attorney in the ab-
sence of J. E. Muldoon, City Clork.
The City Attorney announced that the annexation ordinance t^ras ready for

TERRITORY TO SAID CITY.
The City Attorney then read tre Ordinance in fu11, which was approved by
the Commission, and upon motion by Commissioner Crate and duly seconded
by Mayor Pfeiffer and carried, the Ordinance as read was approved.
Carried.
There being no further business, upon motion. by Crate, seconded by Pfeiffer,
the Commission adjourned.
Carried.
