Regular meeting of the City Cormiission was called to order by Mayor H. J.
Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials present; Commissioner
Jas. ~. Crate, Jr., Wm. Maness,. representing Wyatt G. Hedrick, City Engineer,
Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public Vdorks, Carl C. Patrick, City Attorney, and J. E.
Muldoon, City Clerk.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Mayor instructed the City Clerk to open bids on a shovel loader tractor,
which were advertised for on August 5, 19l~9. The bids were tabulated as follows:
Benson `t'ractor Co. Bid ~8375.~.0
Browning Ferris Mach. Co. Bid 8050.00
Gulf Traotor & Equipment Co. Bid 9018.99
Gulf Tractor & Equipment Co. 1 Bulldozer Blade 190.00
The Commission instructed Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public V`dorks, to look at
the three mach5.nes and report his findings to the Commission at their next
meeting.
'~ The Mayor appointed J. L. Buroh, M. ~Y. Roberson, C. x. Gates, S. H. Yarborough,
W. H. Peters, W. K. Musgrove, H. J. Me Len arxi V. M. Calhoun, as special police
officers, on and near the school grounds. His appointments were affirmed by
the Commission.
`t'he Commission instructed the City Clerk to continue payments to the La Porte
Local Relief Committee, and to issue check for the months of May, June and
July.
Mcftion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, instLucting the City Clerk to issue Ed
Niles, Contractor, checks in the amount of X860.00 and ~7,91b.?.~., as per his
statements as approved by R . Erwin, Sugt . of Public Works .
Carried.
Mr. Sam Goyen appeared before the Commission and requested changes made in
contract with city before signing. Changes were authorized by the Commiss-
ion and approved by the City Attorney and engineer. Copy of contract ordered
filed.
Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to pay F. H.
Camp statement in the amount of X25.00, and Mc Millan Chevrolet Company state-
ment of ~1,571.31.P. for new garbage truck.
Carried.

Upon motion by Crate, seoonded by Pfeiffer, this meeting was recessed to
12 ;30 P. M. this day, August 23, 1~9. (Time - 12 s05 P. M.)

The regulax meeting of the La Porte City Commission held this day August 23,
1919, which was recessed at 12:05 P. ~d., was reconvened an this day at ]2x30
P. M., with the following members and city officials present: Mayor H. J.
rfeiff~er, Commissioner Jas. S. Crate, Jr., Carl C. Patrick, City Attorney,
and J.E. Muldoon, City Clerk.
The Mayor introduced an Ordinance which was read in full. Commissioner Crate
made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as~ read. The motion was seoonded
by Mayor Pfeiffer and carried by the following vote : AYES : Mayor Pfeiffer,
Commissioner Crate. NOES: None.
