LA PORTE CITY COMIt~SSI(JN - SEI~EMBER 20, 19+9

Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer,
with the following members and city officials present: Commissioner Jas. S. Crate,
Jr., Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of I~,blic 1Vorlts, Carl C. Patrick, City Attorney, and J.E.
Muldoon, City Clerk.
Minutes of the last meet ing were read and approved.
I+~s. J. YET. Canada and Mrs • H. B. Harrison appeared before the Commission i.n behalf
of the is Port® ZVelfare Agency, and stated that Mrs. Martha Chaloupka had been
appointed the official Referral Agent for the La Porte Red Feather Agency. 't'hey
stated that the ~G5.00 per month set up in the city budget should now be made pay-
able to Imo. Porte Ydelfare Agency, % P~Zrs. J. 0. Taylor, Box 291, Io. Porte, 'texas.
'Phcy further stated that this money would be used for telephone service in conn-
ection with Mrs. Chaloupka's work.
Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, instructing the City Clerk to issue cheek
for X5.00 each month to the Ia Porte ~~"felfare Agency.
Carried.
'T'he City Clerk presented Goyen & mitten's statement for work in connection with
new Imhoff Tank. 'i'he Commission instructed the City Clerk to write Goyen 8c Whitten
that they would take up his statement when a full quorum was present.
T~Iotion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a loud
speaker permit to J. P. Straughan at L. B. & Opal's Place.
Carried.
1'he Commissiam. instructed the City Clerk to notify the Mayor's and Councilments
Association Secretary, that the La Porte City Commission would act as host to the
Association ari October 20, 1~.9, at the La Porte Municipal Airport, at 7:30 P. M.
with a barbecue.
1'he Commission instructed the City Clerk to advise Mr. J.R. Ensminger of the
following prices of constructing water and sewer mains in Block 1107, La Porte
2`" Water main from North side of "J" Street to property, approximately
2000' - X220.00, or X1.10 per foot.
6" Sewer main froQn "K" Street through tha Block - ~~.50.00.
Mr. Vdilliam Crenshaw acting for Mrs. Dorothy Allen, agreed to have Mrs. Allen sign
necessary papers for constructing sewer main to her house, for X250.00. The City
Attorney was instructed to draw up the necessary papers.
