Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J.
Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials present: Comm-
issioner Jas. S. Crate, Jr., Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Publie rUorks, Carl
C. Patriok, City Attorney, and J. E. b7uldoon, City Clerk.
PuTinutes of the last meeting v~tere read and approved.
The Mayor instructed the City Clerk to open bids on a Shovel Loader
Tractor, which were advertised for on October 1~th, 1919. 1'he bids
were tabulated as follows:
Benson Tractor Co. Bid $8,205.38
Benson Traotor Co. Alternate Bid $7,651.01
Browning-Ferris Mach. Co. Bid x$,050.00
Browning-Ferris Mach. Co. Alternate Bid X7,295.00
Gulf `t'ractor & Equip. Co. Bid ~9, 018.99
The Commission unanimously agreed not to award bid to any of the bidders
until all members were present.
Motion by Crate, seoond by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue
Moore & Moore, Contractors, check for $3,5714..65, out of the Revenue Bond
Fund, for their estimate No. 1, same being approved by Wyatt C. Hed-
rick, City Engineer.
Carried.
Motion by Crate, seoond by Pfeiffer, that the City charge the following
fees for plumbing permits:
Sewer Tap
Sewer Inspection
5 Plummbing Fixtures
1 .Plumbing Fixture (Minimum)
Over 5 Plumbing Fixtures
7 Gas Opening s
1 Gas Opening (Minimum)
Over 7 Gaa Openings
Fees to be effective immediately.

2dotion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, to pay J.A. Mc Cauley one-half of the
new plumbing fees, one half of-the building and moving permits, and all of
the sewer inspeotival fees, and in the event one-half of the fees mentioned
do not amount to X75.00 per month, the City Clerk be authorized to pay the
difference out of the General Fund. In other words, J. A. Mc Cauley is
guaranteed '75.00 per month.

Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, instructing the City Attorney to
notify Mrs . Joe Tennant , owner of a t ra ct of land in the Johnson Hunter
Survey, that suit would be filed for an easeme~xt through her property by
their power of eminent domain. if papers are not signed by her immediately.
Carried.
Mat ion by Crate, seconded by Pfe iffer, ratifying the issuance of Check
No. 3087 to the Layne-Texas Caanpax;y, Ltd., in the amount of ~2,?99.85,
in payment of their statements dated August 17 and September 12, 1949•
Carried.
`1'he Commission ungnimously authorized the City Clerk to issue ch®cks for
oommission and interest payments on the following bond issues:
X5.94 commission to Manufacturers Trust Co. on Refunding Bonds
of 1934•
~2s375•~ interest due October 10, 1949, to Manufacturers Trust
Co. on Refunding Bonds of 1934.
$110.00 interest due October 10, 1949, to the First National
Bank of La Porte, on Sewer Funding Bonds 1938.
X120.00 interest due October 10, 1949, to the First National
Bank of La Porte, on Sewer Refunds Bonds 194l.~..
X315.00 interest due October 10, 199, to the First National
Bank of La Porte, on Water System Refunding Bonds 1946.
Carried.
A brief discussion was held on the proposed current budget.
Motion by Crate, seoond by Pfeiffer, to pay the following bills out of the
Revenue Bond Fund:

Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, to pay Daniel E. Dever, ~2I~.50, the
amount of his statement, out of the Street Improvement Tla,nd.
Carried.
Un motion by Caamnissioner Crate, duly seoonded by Mayor Pfeiffer, and carried
by unanimous vote, it was ordered that `t'hursday at 10:00 A. M• of each week
shall hereafter be the regular meeting time of the City Commission of the
City of La Porte .
Carried.
Upon motion by Crate, duly seconded by Pfeiffer, this meeting was recessed
subject to call of the Mayor.

The regular meeting of the La Porte City Commission held October ?~., 191x.9,
which was reoessed at 1:10 P. ~• on said date, sub jest to the call of the
Mayor, was reconvened on this date at 10:00 o'clock A. M. and called to
ordea~ by the Mayor, with the following members and city officials present:
Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer, Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr. and 1Nm. P. Jones,
and Raleigh Erwin, Supt.of' Public vYorks. Upon reconvening, the minutes
were taken by the Supt. of Public 'tyorks, in the absence of J. E. Muldoon,
City Clerk.
Motion by Crat®, seoonded by Jones, to purchase from Benson 'T'ractor Company
1 Model HD - 5 G Allis Chalmers tractor with standard equip¢nent and equipped
with Model TS - 5 Tractomotive `1'racto Shovel, for X8,100.00, less 2 o plus
freight.
Carried.
Motion by Crate, seoonded by Jones, authorizing the City Clerk to issue
check to b~nson Tractor Company, for X8,205.38.
Carried.
