Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by L~Qayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials prosent: Commissioner Jas. S. Crate, ' Jr., Carl C. Patrick, City Attorney, Raleigh E~Vrin, Supt. of ~lzblic ti~dorks, John tiJithers, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Fmgineer, and J. E. I~Quldoon, City Clerk. ~: '.~' Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. .~, y f' '~~- ~ The. Mayor instructed the City Clerk to open bids on replacing new G. M. C. Engine, and replaying new G. M. C. Transmission, and all necessary parts and labor on No. . , ~ 1, Fire Truck. The bids were as follotivs: Higginbotham Buick Co., Houston Bid ~ 1,185.58 ~ Higginbotham Buick Co., Baytown Bid 1,050.00 Mc' 1V1i1 lan Chevrolet Co. La Porte Bid 775 00 Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, to award contract to Mc I~Iilla.n Chevrolet Co., on their low bid . Carried. `1'he City Attorney recommended that chains of title be secured on property on new paving project. The Commission instructed the City Clerk to secure chains of title for the City Attorney, each chain of title not to exceed X1.00. Motion by Crate; second by Pfeiffer, instructing the City Clerk to advertise for ' bids for the construction of street improvements to be done in La Port©, jexas, sealed bids to be received until 10:00 A. M. o~clock C.S.T., on January 5th, 1950, at the City Hall, at which time and place the proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud. Carried. The Commission unanimously authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute contract vrith Womack Construction Company, as approved by the City Attorney. Carried.
