Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials present: Commissiamers Jas. S.Crate, Jr., and Wm. P. Jones, Raleigh r%rwin, Supt. of Public ~iforks, Carl C. Patriok, City Attorney, Mr. Jas. A. Mc Cauley, Building and Plumbing In- spector, and J.E. Muld®on, City Clerk. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The City Clerk read a letter From the La Porte Independent School District, in connection with recent annexation ordinance. The Commission ©rdered the letter filed. `i'he City Clerk read a letter from the Century Ccrostruction C®mpany, in con- nection with TMclean-up work and ingress and egrQSS to commercial drive ways. Z'he Commission instructed the letter to be written into the minutes and let- ter filed with contract. The letter follows : January 21, 1950 City of La Porte La forte, Texas In re: Contract for curb and gutter vrork dated January 19, 1950; Architect-Engineerts Job No. 3L~o9. Gentlemen In regard to the above c®ntract, please be advised that I, George T. Caliva, doing business as Century Censtructi®n Company, do hereby agree to do all "Clean-up work" within twenty-four (21E) hours after notice by your archi- tect or engineer, and in the event suoh work is neat accomplishe~ei"by me vrith- 9.n the prescribed twenty-f®ur h®ur period, you are authorized to have the work done and charge the expense thereof to me. I further agree to do the work in suoh a manner that any and all commercial establishments that use drive-ways will at all times have at least one open- ing large encugh tc permit ingress and egress. This letter shall be deemed a part of the captioned contract for all purposes and shall be binding upon me to the same extent as if fully ineerp®rated in said contract. The Commission unanimously agreed to let Fred P,. Puff post a "No Parking 3n Daivewny" sign near his driveway at 2nd Street and A, sign to be placed be- tween sidewalk and curb line. A discussion was held on the old Part Theater building. Mayor Pfeiffer and Commissioner Jones were to get more infesrmatimn for the next regular meeting. i~:otion by Crate, second by Jones, ratifying the issuance of Check No. 3581 to Vance 'T'urner, for 21x.00 feet of 8" pipe, delivered January 17, 18, 19 and 20. Carried. P~lotion by Jones, second by Crate, authorizing the City Clerk to` issue a check to Vance Turner, et al, for ~5t~5.50, for the f®11®wing items 2871 - 8`~ PiPe X430.50 Winch Truck Hira 1x.0.00 Junk 75.00 Carried. P~Zotion by Crete, second by Pfeiffer, t© reimburse Century Construction Com- pany for 2 - 30" and 2 - 36" culvert pipes borrowed from them and used in conneotion with Junction Box at "YP°.
