Regular meeting of the City Comndssian was called to order by Mayor ~i. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and. city officials present: Com- missioners Jas. S. gate, Jr., and Vim. P. Jones, Raleigh Erin, Supt. of Public 1~orks, Carl C. I~triok, City Attorney, and J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Motion by Jones, - seavnded by Crate, authorising a loud speaker permit to be issued to ~. H. "Bill" Rose, for the months of April, May and June, 1950, on the streets of La Porte. Carried • The Mayor ordered the bids opened which were advertised for opening on April 6, 1950, for the pizrohase of one (1) ~-2'ar~, Chevrolet or Ford Trunk, Standard {Pickup) Body, such bids to be. accompanied by a bid for the purchase as trade-in on said truck of„ a 19tF8 Model 8 N Ford Traotor, No• 541d.~., together with accessories. The_ bids were opened an,d tabulated as follows : - Kerber Motor Co• Bid 1 - 1950 Ford -Ton 8 Cylinder Piak-up Total - ~1,35a•oo• Less trade-in allowance @ X1,350.00 on one used Ford Traotor. This is an oven trade. Mc Millen Chevrolet Co. Bid 1 - 1950 Chevrolet ~ron pink-up equipped with double-noting shook absorbers front and rear, and deluxe cab, in ezchan.ge for a Ford Traotor inoludix:g equipm,mt for this tractor. q After considerable discussion, motion by Crate, second by Jones, to accept Kerber Motor Connpany's bid, and instructed the City Clerk to issue a pur- chase order for same. Carried. The City Attorney was requ®sted to rendar~ an opinion on whether ar not a special pity pol~.ce officer could carry a. gun, said officer not being paid by the Citys l~ticn by Crate, second by Jones, authorizing the City Attorney to order from Stook Compe~y, identifying different officers of the City. Carried: ! ' ~, ti ° L • The City Clerk was instr~aated to notify Mr. ~+hn. Maness, representing 'Hyatt C. Hedrick, to notify S~iysahe and Bruoe Bonding Comipany as to X500.00 being re- tained for completion of disposal plant. Motien by Crate, soeond by Jones, that the fallowing bills, in the aggregate amount of ~ 16,763.66 be paid -. The Mayor instructed the City Clerk to read Ordinance ATo. 392 in full.
