F '~ c '+-~-~ Regular meeting of the City Camznissian was called to onier by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials presents Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and Wm. P, Jones, City Attorney Carl C. Patrick, Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Pub- lic Works, Wm. ~daness, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, and J.E. Mul- doon, City Clerk. Minutes of the last meeting wero read and approved. The Mayor introduced an Ordinance, which was read in full. Ccrosmissioner Crate made a motion that the Ordinance be adopted as read. The motion •was seaamded by Commiss- inner Jones and carried by the following vote : AYES : Mayor Pfeiffer, Commissioner Crate, Commissioner Jones. NOES: None. The Ordinance caption reads as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 396 THE STATE OF TEXAS; COUNTY OF HARRIS: C TTY OF LA PCB~TE s AN ORDINAICE AUTHORIZING ASSESSMENTS AGAINST BLOCKS NUMBERS 199 AND 200, FRONTING ON SOUTH "A" STREE'T', BETWEEN SAN JAC INFO .AND BROADWAY STREETS IN THE C TTY OF LA- PORTE, TEXAS , AC Ct~D ]NG T 0 THE MAP OF SAID CITY OF RECORD IN HARK IS COUNTY , TEXAS SUCH ASSESSMENTS BEING MADE FOR THE COST OF MATERIAL AND LAB(R T 0 BE EXPENDED BY THE CITY IN T FE DYING OF CONCRETE STREETS AND CURBS ON THAT P(7RT ION OF SAID SOUTH "A" STREET; PRESCxIBING A MARIMUM ASSESSMEIJT OF $1,697.7t~ AGAINST SAID BLOCK NUMBER 199 AND A MAXIMUb~ ASSESSMENT OF $1,697.7. AGAINST SAID BLOCK NUMBE~t 200; AND FtTRTHER, PROVIDING THE METHOD OF PAYMENT OF SAID ASSESSMENTS AND»AUTHORIZING SAID CITY TO ACCEPT APPROPRIATE AND PROPER INSTRUMENTS OF SAID PROPERTY O6YNFRS IN EVIDENCE AND SECURITY OF THE COST THUS EXPENDED. The Commission advised him to contact the owners in Bloolas l~1, !~2 and 67, and see how matxy would participate in such aon- -struation, A brief discussion was held with Mr. Marmon Ellis, et al, on the swimming pool pro- 3ect. ... ~ ~.E, r Motion by Crate, second by Jones, that the following Resolution be adopteds P.ES OLUT ION OF THE MAYO AND CITY C~SISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LA FORTE, Hl1RRIS COBNxY, ,TERAS SEAS, the Supreane Being in His divine wisdom has seen fit to call into H~ kingdom our mast beloved City Official, our friend end colleague, James A. McCauley; and , AREAS, it is our desire to pe4Y special tribute to once whose death has ended a long and useful life; a life devoted throughout to a never ceasing and un- tiring effort to assist his fellowman and a greater portion of which was dedicated to the public welfare; a lifeas span~iaw veiled by all that is tranquil and the mem- ory of whi oh shall live forever within our hearts and to which the passing of time shall lend no obscurity; and, V~REAS, there could be no greater grief than that suffered by the fam- ily he loped and who loved him so dearly, vas, and each of us, desire it to be pro- claimed that we share in the full measure of ,such grief, receiving caazsolation only in the knovrledge that Mao has found the land of supreme pease; BE IT RESCB,VED, therefore, by the Mayor and City Commissioners, that we, collectively and individual]y, express our deepest appreciation and great sense of loss in the death of our dearly beloved friend and assooiete, and that we oomrey to his fe,~ ly our true and unlimited sympathy in this , their time of be raavement ; that when adjournment is taken this day, it shall be as a token of esteem and respect for him, Haar called to a higk~er haane, and for his family who contributed so much to his suecaass; and that our City Clerk cause to be directed to his family a Dopy of this Re s olut iaa~.
