M. ~5b Regular meeting of the City Commission isas aalled to order by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners Wm. P. Jones,. City Attorney Carl C. Patrick, A. B. Moore, hhgineer on the Sewer Disposal Plant, Raleigh Eririn, Supt. of Public Works, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Carl Qriffin appeared before the Commission in regard to his curb and gutter and drainage., Mr. Qriffin stated he would borrow the money and pay the curb and gutter assessment. The City agreed to make a survey of his drainage problem. Mrs. H. G. Thayer, owner of Lots !t to 8, Block 10, Sylvan Beach, appeared before the Commission and requested. the City shell Sylvan Avenue fronting Block 10. The City agreed to survey, ~r~de street and spread the shell if she would furnish same. Mr. A. B. Moore, Engineer, talked at length_ on the newer disposal plant. John Champagne,`Night Watchman, appeared before the Commission and requested a salary raise., The Commission advised him they would take his request under consideration. The City Clerk presented plans for a building to he erected in the Fire Zone, for Cuvis Carey. Motion by Jone: second by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a building. permit to Cuvis Carey for a building in Block 51, La Porte, according t o plans presented. Carried. The Commission instructed the. City Attorney to write the following property owners in connection with pacing stri s in front of their property on Main Street: Ed Cone, E. ~ of Lot 14, W. ~ of Lot 15, Block 57, La Porte - 25 Feet; Howard E. Brunson, E. ~ of Lot 13, W. ~ of Lot 14, Block 57, La Porte - 25 Feet; Miss Besse Penn Sharon, Trustee, Lots 13, 14, 15, 18,.19, Block 59, La Porte, 96 Feet. The City Clerk ~ esented the ~dayor~s propos ed budget for the fiscal year, July 1, 1950 to June 30, 1951, which was filed with the City Clark's office November 6, 1950, and after consideration and discus sion, a motion was made by Jones, second by Pfeiffer, to recess this meeting until 3:00 o'clock P. M., December 8th, 1950, at which time Commissioner Crate could be present for further dis- cussion of the budget. Carried. ~l~ Recessed 1:30 o'clock P. M., December ,~ ?, 1950, with the follaering members and city officials present: Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and ?'am. P. Jones, and J.~. ?~ulc~oon, City Clerk. A discussion was held on the proposed budget, and after consideration a motion eras made by Crate, second by Jones, that the proposed budget for t he fiscal year 1950- 1951, be approved and that a public hearing be held at 11:40 o'clock A. Ird. December 21, 1950, at the City Hall, and 'that proper notice of such hearing be published in the La Porte Liberal.. Carried. Motion by Jones, second by Crate, that the meeting adjourn.
