Special meeting; of_ the City Corronission wa.s called to order by Mayor H. J.
Pfeiffer, frith the fallovring members and city officials rresent: Co1m~u_ssi oners

Clerk J. E, Muldoon.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the case broubht by the humble Oil
and Refi?Ling Company, et al, against tt~e City of La Porte.
After much discussion, the City Commission unanitaousJ.y agreed to employ Mr. E.
A. Kn.3.pp as Special Counsel, to represent the City of La Porte, Texas, and the
Ci~cy Cormui.ssion in Cause Ito. 391.-~99. Mr. Knipp would be paid a reta~n.er of
X2,500.00 to cover genexal preparation for the trial o ~ this suit, and in addi-
tion thereto shall. be paid X1.00.00 per aiern for each day in court in connection
vrith paid suit. In addition thereto he shat. be reimbursed for such reasonable
necessary e:~enses that he m~~r incur in his own name or in the name of the 'icy
of La Porte in connection with said suit.
Carried.
Motion by Jones, second by Burgin, to pay Carl C. Patrick the sum of X500.00
for special ~vork, anu. assisting DJbrr. Knipp in Cause No. 391-29q, this amount
~' to be in addition to his regular salary as City ~'~ttorney fcr the Citjr cf La-
Porte.
Carried.
The City Clerk v.as instructed to notify the attorney of their ac ~i.cn and to
have proper ordinance drawn and ready for their nest r egular meeting.
