J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials ~eaent : Caanmiss Toners Wm• P. Jones and M. D. Burgin, Supt. of Public Works Raleigh Erwin., and City ,Clerk J• E. Muldoari. Minutes of the last meetings were read and approved. b4otion by Janes, second by Burgin, that Ordinance ~No• 1.11, .being AN ORDINANCE FINDING AND DECTaA,RING A GRAVE PUBLIC NECESSITY FOR EMERGENCY EXPENDITURES WHIGS COULD NOT BY REASONABLE FORETHOUGHT AND INTENT ION HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL BUDGET FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF MONEY AND CREATION OF A SPEC IAL LEGAL DEFENSE FUND, THE HARING OF LOANS FOR SUCH PURPOSE, AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES TIlEREFROM, DIRECTING THE KEEPING OF RECORDS THEREOF, THE FILING OF COPIES OF THIS AMENDMENT TO THE BUDGET AS RDaUIRED BY LAW, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, be adapted, approved and oa~dered entered into the minutes this 17th day of may, 1951. Motion by Jones, second by Burgin, that Ordi~iance No. 1.12, being _ AN ORDINANCE EMPLOYING E. A. KNIPP, ATTORNEY, TO REPRESENT THE CITY OF LA PORTE IN SUIT CF STATE OF TEXAS, ET AL. VS. CITY OF LA PCRTE, ET AL., NUMBER 391-299, IAT THE 80TH DIS- TRICT COURT, FIXING HIS COMPENSATION, PROVIDING FOR PAYMCNT THEREOF, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF EXPENSES INCIDEN- TAL T 0 SUCH LITIGATION, Carried. be adopted and ordered entered into the minutes this 17th day of May, 1951. Carries. Mr. gey Jobs on, Mrs. Lois Compton and b2rs. E. T. MacNamara appeared before the Co~nission and requested the City to help than finance the Recreation Program for the La Porte area. The Commission informed them that their budget would not allow them to do so, but they would give it every consideration in the new budget. 509 ~~ The C®mmission asked the City Clerk for the tabulations on the bids for the sale of $50,000.00 City of La Porte, Te~cas, ~fiaterworks and Sewer System ReFVenue Bonds, opa~.ed May 10, 1951. In the opinion of the Commission the bid from Dit tmar & Company was the best. Their bid was as follows 1952 to 1959 -Rate 3~ 1960•to 1978 -Rate 3~ ®r far average net interest rate ad' 3•~-~893~• Motion by Jones, second by Burgin, to aooept bid submitted by Dittmar k Company. Ths Mayor introduoed an ordinance ~-ich was read i.n full. Commissioner ~m• P. Jones made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read. Thee mottion Ras seconded by Commissioner M. D. Burgin and carried by the following votes AYESs Mayoa~ Pfeiffer, Commissioners Jones and Burgin. NOES: None. The ®rdinance thus adopted followas ORDINANCE NO. 1a1l~ AN ORDINANCE ATI6ARDING SALE OF X50,000.00 CITY OF LA PC~EtTE ~Ii4TER~YORRS AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, SERIES 1951, be adopted as read.
