Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the follov~ing members and city officials present: Commissioner Z'dm. P. Jo nes, City Attorney Carl C. Patriclt, Supt. of Public :`Yorks Raleigh Erwin., Fire Chief Jim Rollins, and City Clerk J. E. I:iuldoon. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The ~Zayor ordered the bids opened and read aloud, on the fence, as advertised fcr July 5, 1951. The bids ~°rere opened and read as foll~vs: Bid Add ar deduct at .Per Lineal Ft. Anchor Fence Company X3178.00 ~ 2.26 The Cox Fence Co, of Houston X2929.29 H~ricane Fence Company w3185.79 ~a 2.27 A11ied Fence Company ,3576.10 The Mayor instructed the Supt. of Public a9orks to tabulate the bids and have ready for the next regular meeting. J. O.RolLi.n.s requested the Commission to allow X50.00 per man for four men to attend the Firements Training School at A. and I~~I. College. The Commission unanimously in- structed the City Clerk to issue checks for fog' men at ti~50.00 each, ho•~rever if only tree ,were going, to issue only for three men at X50.00 each. Carried. A discussion was held on the City finances. After much discussion, the following Resolution was passed: r OLUTION THE STATE OF TEYLruS COUNTY OF' HARRIS ~ CITY 0~' LA POR TE A RESOLUTI OP1 AUTHORISING THE CITY TO BORRCZV 410, 000.00 BY THE ISSU~I`d CE OF ~~ TAX ANTICIPiiTIOTW' NOTE ~P, THE BUDG T YEAR OI' 1951-52. "THI;REAS it has been made knoim to the City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, that a necessity exists to borrow funds in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars 010,000.00) for general administrative purposes and that such amount is consistent with the anticipated collection of property tax for such year; C~ 5~7 y ~h`.~tEAS, the First Tdationat Bank of La Forte, Texas, has examined the financial status of the City and is wiling to maw such loan; NOG7, T ~i'~EFORE, be it resolved by the City Cora~is si on of the City of La Porte, Teas, that the City Clerk be authorized to issue the negotiable note of theCity to be designated. "Tax Anticipation Note" for the budget year 1951-52; such note to be in the prinicpal amount of TenThousand Dollars 010,000.00 ; to b ear interest at the rate offer cent per annum payable at maturity, and to be due and payable on or before the end of the fiscal year; and that said note be sold by the director of Finance to the said First National Banlt of La Porte, Texas, at not less than pad value. "When such note has been signed by the :Oirectar~ of Finance and delivered to said Bank iv:i.th a duly authenticated copy of this resolution' the indebtedness thereby evidenced shall be fully binding against the City. PASSED .this 5th day of July, A. D., 1951, by a vote of 2 AYE AND 0 Td0E5. APP~30VED by the Ifayor and attested by the City Clerk on said date. Motion by Jones secor~]. by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a check to E. A. Knipp in the amount of X2500.00, same being in accordance with Ordinance 1.72 passed May 7th, 1951. Carried.
