Pfeiffer, with the following members and c ity officials present: Commissioners Wm. P. Jones and M D. Burgin, Supt, of Public Works Raleigh ~~dn, City Attcsney Carl C, Patrick and City' Clerk J. E. Muldoon. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Vance T~a~er appeared beforethe Commission and. stated that the Texas State Board of Plmntdng Egamin~s would give rations to City Inspectors on August 30 and. 31, in Austin, Teas. He stated hs would tam the egami.nation but vaould like t o be reimbursed for part of his e~cpenses. The City Commi,ssian unanimously agreed to reimburse ham for his transportation and hotel expenses, transportation being egni.- valent to train fare from La Porte to Austin. Carried. ~'. Mi].t®n Beck and B~. Rex Baker appeared before the Cam~i.ssion and complained of an inspection made by Vance Target on the Rector home in Becks addition to Oak- hurst., After much. disarssion, it was decided to drop the aatter. '~ H. P. Pfeiffer representing the Fire Department, appeared. before th,e Commiss~.on and, requested a new I~1re, Tt-etck to replace the 1931 Ford Model A Tank Truck, as it was wore ont and was an else to maintain. After much disc;assion, the Coa~i.ssion instructed the City Clerk to procure bids from the local auto dealers., The Ca®3.ssion unanimously instructed 8aleigh I~rin, Public War-ks Superintendent, to lay a ti" water main do~rg bth Street to "Dtt Street, and have fire ~rdrants placed at "Dp axrl "B~ Srtreets, lateral lines to be paid far by property owners, also to, past far digging trenches at 13 cants peer focYt, Carried. Motion by Burgin, secoixi by Jones, instructing the City Clerk to increase Walter Roberson, Police Chiefts check X25.00 for car allowance, in secardance with budget. Carried. The Commission instructed the City Clerk to readvertise for bids for t he construction of additions to the Searage Treatment Plant, bids to be ®pened at 10:00 A, M. ~ Sept- ember 7, 1951. 525 Thee Com~3.ssicw wu~imousl.,q agreed to transfer radio equipment given them by the Hamble= Oil and Refin3~tg Company to Tames S. After much discussion, the follovr3.ng Resolutiwz was adopted: ,~ , ~ ~. 526 STATE OF TEXAS COT~TTY OF HARIILS CITY OF LA PCRTE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO BORRC~t X3,400.00 BY THE ISSUANCE OF THE TAS ANTICIPATION NOTE ~R THE BUDGET YEAR OF 195'1-~2. SRHFREAS it has been wade knaom to fhe City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, that a necessity exists to borra~ funds in the amcnjut of Three Thousand Dollars 03,440.40) for general admi.uistrative purposes and that such amount is consistent with the anticipated collection of property tax for such. 3~~'; ~PH~REAS, the First National Bank of La Porte, Tegas~- has axamined the financial statue of the City and is willing to malfle such loan; NUR, THEREFORE, be 3t resolved by the City Cammni.ssion of the City of La Porte, Texas, that the City Clerk be authorized to issae the negotiable note of the City to be designated "Tag Anticipation Note" for the badget year 1951-1952; such note to be in the principal sm,ount of Three Thaasand Dollars ~3,000.OU); to bear interest at tY:e rate of (3~) per cent per annum payable at maturity, and to be doe and payable on or before the egad of the fiscal year; that said note be sold by the Directe~ of Finance to the said First National Bank of La Porte, Texas,, at not less than par value. VPhen Bach note has been signed by the Direct<~ar of Finance and delivered to said Bank with a duly authr- enticated copy of this Resolution, the indebtedness thereby evidenced shall be fu]1y bdnding against the City. After much discussion ari the purchase of a new fire truck, Commissioner Janes stated he would vote far the purchase of a neW f ite truck ,but he wanted it emphatically understood that before he voted he wanted same assurance that it 'could not be used at grass fires, only in the e~rent that improvements were iri danger from a grass fire.
