10:00 A. M.
Special meetir~ of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J. Pfe3.ffer,
with the following members and city offic3.als present: Commissioners i~u. P. Jones
and M. D. Burgin, and City Clerk J. E, Muldoon.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the budget, Water Well Equipment, and
to employ a Public Works~,Superintendent.
After much discussion, it was decided. to call W. A. 'Tony" Arthur into the meeting.
While waiting fcr Mr. Arthuu', a discussion was held on the water wall equipment.
Motion by Janes, second by Burgin, instructing the City Clerk to issue checks to
Arbuckle Electrical Machinery Compares, for One 100-H. P. 3 Phase 60 Cycle Cat.
1G38b993-4b Starter, Amount $875.15, and One 125-H. P. 3 Phase 60 Cycle Starter,
Dash Post 2075 H 385 209, Amount X1376.55.
Carried.
Mr. W. A. Arthur came into the meeting at this point.
After much discussion Mr. Arth:ar stated he w ould accept the foll~ing compensation:
he would work for the first 6 months at $250.00 per month, and for the balance of
the fiscal year at X275.00 per months as Public Works Superintendent of the City of
La Porte.
Motion by Jones, second by Burgin, that W. A. Arthur be appointed Superintendent of
Public Works for the compensation of $250.00 per month, for a period of 6 months,
and if he proved satisfactory his salary would be adjusted to X275.00 per month;
also to furnish Bond i.n the amount of $].,000.00, premium on Bond. to be paid by the
City.
Carried.
A general discussion was held on the Budget.
Motion by Jones, second by Burgin that the meeting adjourn.
Carried.
