Special meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem Wm. P. Jones, with the
following members and city officials present: Co:rnm.ssioner M. D. Burgin, and
City Clerk J . E. Muldoon.
The purpose of tfi.s meeting was to discuss the current city budget, and to
adopt same as advertised in the cityts official newspaper, the La Porte Liberal,
dated September 21, 1951.
The office personnel appeared and complained that all other city employees had
received a raise except them, and with the contemplated Federal Income Tax
raise, they actually Mould be taking a reduction ir_ their .salaries.
After much discussion, upon motion by Burgin, second by Jaries~ instructing the
City Clerk to adjust the follaa~ing salaries in the budget: Eula Er~rin, Ruth
Huddleston and ftti.l.dred Runnels, to be increased X12.50 per month, increase to
commence October 1, 1951.
Carried.
Mayor Pro-Tem Jones asked if there was ~yone else who wished to discuss the
budget. No one answered.
rllotion by Burgin, second by Jones, that t he following Resolution be adopted:
RESOLITTION
VdHEREAS, heretofore, the Mayor of the City of La Porte prepared and submitted to
the Board of Coa~.ssioners at its meeting held on September 6, 1951, his pro-
posed budget far the fiscal year July 1, .1951 to Jvne 30, 1952; ~d
WHEREAS, the Mayor filed such proposed budget ~ri.th the ~`ierk of the City of
La Porte, Texas, on August bth, 1951, for public inspection;
Z"THREAS, the Board of Corrnnissioners designated that a public hearing on such
budget be held at the City Hall at 11:00 o'clock A. M. on September 28th, 1951,
and. caused such. public notice of such hearing to be made; and
WHEREAS, such public hearing has been held, and is therefore ordered by the
Commissioners, that t he budget as prepared and submitted by the Mayor be ad-
justed as to the office personnel's sal?xy, covered by prior motion, is here-
by finally approved and adopted by the Board of Commissioners, and it is
hereby ordered that a true copy of such approved budgets together with a
copy of this order, shall be filed 3.n each of the offices of the Clerk of the
City of La Porte, the County Clerk's office, Harris County, Teas, and the
State Comptrollerts at Austin, Texas.
