Regular meeting of the City Com¢nission was called to order by riayor Pro-Tem Wm.
P. Jones, with the folloz~isig menbers and city officials present: Commissioner
M. D. Burgin, City Attorney Carl C. Patrick, and City Clerk J. E. I~7..doon.
I~iinutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Nar~man Staashen presented a petition, with checks attached, for curb and Butt er on
South 3rd Street, betTrreen Iw.ain and "A" Street.
Motion by Burgin second by Jones, authorizing South 3rd Street to be curbed and
guttered, between Main and South "A" Street.
Carried.
Motion by Burgin second by Jones authorizing gutter (flat) 36" wide, to be
constructed across certain intersections, later to be designated vtith lot curb
return, at X1.75 per foot.
Carried.
Motion by Burgin, second by Janes, to employ 1~. G. Berlet, Civil Engineer, to do
the engineering for curb and gutter on streets ~,rhere property owners agreed to
pay ~~1.50 to X1.65 per Lineal foot, compensation not to exceed X125.00 per block.
Carried.
Mot~.on by Burgin, second by Jones, to recess this meeting to 10:00 A. Iii., January
21st, 1952, at which time further discussion would be had on curb and gutter and
street improvements, and also to meet tivith representatives of the Houston Lighting
and Pa<~rer Company in connection with electrical tiviring at site of Z'Iater dell Tdo.

Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer called to order the meeting which was recessed at 12:30 P. It2.,
J~uary 17, 1952, with the following manbers and city officials present: Co~.ss-
ioners ~Tm. P. Jones and L~i. D. Burgin City Attorney Carl C, Patrick and City
Clerk J. E, Iduldoon.

~~dr. Paul Joplin and ~, Hale, representatives of the Houston Lighting & Power
Compar~p, appeared bei'ore the Commission in connection with electrical wiring
on the municipal barn and the water pumping station, so it may be bi.]1ed
under rate schedule No. Iu~GS-2, rather than schedule No. SI+~-20, which is not
applicable to this type of service,
The Commission informed these representatives that they originally intended to
do what they now ask, however, their representative r.~r. C. 0. Crenshaw, advised
them this was not necessary, and they had gone to an additional expense to wire
the water well and barn as their representative had advised them, and they do
not feel like they should be put to further expense in changing over, and if
the Houston Lighting & Posner Company demanded this, then they should pay the
additional expense involved. Cdr. Joplin informed the Commission that i~efore
he could authorize ar~y payment to the city to coves the additional expense
involved, he would have to take the matter up with his superior.
Mr. C. M. Agee and ~.~r. Edward Cade, representing property owners on North
Second Street, between Fdain and "A" Street, petitioned the city to curb and
gutter this section of t he street. They did, hrnlever, want the city to
commi_tt themselves in that theyti~rould provide an opening through the curb,
so that the Hovey Building rain water could drain to the valley of the
gutter.
~Jiotion by Burgin, second by Jones, authorizing the City Clerk to give the
contractor, tiY, J. Daples, a work order to construct the curb and gutter on
this section of the street, i~Then the property owners had all given their
checks to the Gity Clerk, and to provide an opening through the curb so
as to gain the rain ti;rater from the Hovey Building to the valley guttex.
Carried.
After much discussion, the Commission unar~i.awusly agreed to curb and gutter
the following streets for X1.50 per lineal foot to the property owner, the
city to do all engineering work and rough grading:,
South First Street from brain to A
South Second Street from Bain to A
South Third Street from 264ain to A
South Fourth Street from main to A
North First Street from b4ain to Polk
Pdorth Second Street from b4ain to Polk
North Third Street fra2n b4ain to Polk
North Fourth :treat from gain to Polk
The City Clerk read a letter to the City Commission, dated January 16, 1952,
from the Federal Government in connection with Project No, Tex.l~l-P551. The
Commission referred this letter to the City Attorney.
