ITT, Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by I1layor H. J. Pfeiffer, ~nrith the following members and ci~cy officials present: Commissioners ?~fm. P. Jones and i1I, D. ~zrgin, Supt. of Public :'forks ?`l, A. ?-rthur, City Attorney Carl C, Patrick, and City Clerk J. B. ~TUldoon. I:4inutes of the last meeting tirrere read and a~~proved. 562 A. C. I~iereh~t, of the A,C, ;~erehant ~ ectric Company, appeared before the Commission in connection ~d.th ~ s statement. Upon motion by Jones, second by Burgin, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a check to A. C, L4erchant ~~ ectric Company, in the amount of ~~1,750.81, balance to be paid when z^TOrk is completed on rd.ring ?dater :'Nell No. ~.. Carried. IJIr, Jno. S. Kiiblo'r, Attorney at law, appeared before the Commission and requested thaan to modify their building ordinance. Afte;^ much discussion, this matter was re- ferred to the City i^^.ttorney for study. The Comam..s~ion instructed the City Clerk to obtain ordinances from cities in comparison to La Porte in size, and procure their fees for building permits. ~~otion by Burgin, second by Jones, to pay the follcnvi.ng bill: It~oor e ~c i~,Loore, General Contractors 30..00 for work perfar~med in ~i' e Station, Carried. A discussion was held on the balance due Texas ?'later ?'Tells, Tnc., and of work not yet performed by this company. After much discussion, all papers and contracts were handed to the City lttorney, Carl C. Patrick, for study and answer. The City Clerk presented the Commission a check from the Houston I~datural Gas Corporation, in the amount of x$1,203.11, in payment of 2/ rental for the ~ivilege of using and occupying the streets, easements, alleys, etc. during the period from January 1, 1951 to December 31, 1951. I,Iotion by Burgin, second by Jones, to accept check from Houston Natural Gas Corporation. Carried, Ia2otion by Burgin, second by Jones, to ratify checks No. 6729 and 6730, issued to J. I~2. ?'lYv.te & Sons, fare work performed on "later ?~re11 No, 1~, and the Imhoff Tank. Carried. 563 Pir. C. H. Iavingston~ Road Contractor, appeared before the Commission and requested to be considered if and when the city decides to asphalt the streets. The Comm- ission advised him to have ready at their newt meeting his cost and specifications for this work. The Comr!LiSSlon agreed to curb .and gutter arty street past the first block from P~2ain Street, for the cos t of ~a1.65 per lineal foot to the property rnruners,, con- ditioned that storm s~vaer is not required. The City Clerk presented the Commission ti4rith a check from the Houston Lighting and Poyver Company, in the amount of r$325.00~ to cover additional expense in- volved in separating the ti~rixing on the municipal barn from the water pi~~~~ping station, so that it may be billed under. Rate Schedule Ir~5-2, rather than Schedu le S?t~-20~ ti~hich is not applicable to this type of service.
