IIayor Burgin gave a resume of a sanitation meeting; he attended June lath, 1952.
County Commissioner r'~yle Chap~ryn promised the City a drum of insecticide.

and talked of a blanket 'oond policy for the City, instead of irdividuaJ_ bonds. IIe

Corn:zs.ttee recently a~~poir~ted bar -the City Commission, appeared 'Defogs the Commission
and gave a report of their findings. They stated it ti~ras the consensus of opinion
of tre committee that they fa-,ror the 1?~.tional Building Code 19.9, for the City
of La Porte. `t'hey stated this ordinance, if adopted in. its entirety, ti~rould give
the cit~r a reduction in it ~ s kev rate, ~~;hereby under the presont ordinance no
reduction is being given9 also it is not as harsh as the present ordinance. The
19.9 i?ational Building Code i~rould permit in many instances, the old building to
be beautified.
11-s. Blal{ey gave each of the Commissioners and 'ihe City ~ittorney a copy of the
19?~9 Tdational Building Code, anal asked them to read it over. He stated the coi~::~ittee
°rould meet again and make their recommendations to •the Com~aission,
The Commission com~:~.euded the members for their ti~rork on this committee.
.r. Von tuber, rrit'r, the State Health Department, appeared before the Commission,
and spoke on fly control and public health in general. He a1.so urged the City
to employ a man far fly control tivork. He asked the City to call a mass meeting
so the people could set up some l~i.nd of a health program,
The City Co?limi.ssion informed I:Ir. Von :'caber they ti~rere glad he had appeared before
them, anal zw uld like his help in setting up a health program.
The Coru~.ssion set the date of June 26th, 1952, at 7:30 P. I:I., at the La forte
I~i.gh School Gymnasium, for a mass meeting irz connection .~rith sanitation.

The Commission instructed the City Clerk to arrange a meeting for 7:00 ofclock
P. II, i°rith representatives from the folloti7ing organizations: Dr. P. J. i;Iock,
Chamber of Commerce; I;I. C. Sperry, Rotary Club; L. E, Posey, Sr., Lions Club,
Claude Shaffer; Garden Club, I:1rs. L. R, I:Iay, as~d 'm'aternal Order of Eagles, I3i11
"+illiams. These people i~ovld act as steering committee.
Iris. T. B. Trotter, C. P. A., appeared before the Commission and explained his
recent audit as of April 30, 1952.
LIr. John S. ~;iibler, appeared before the Commission in behalf of Irirs. I~larma
Sandel. He stated LSrs. Sandel vroul..d be ~~rilling to sell her grater i~orks sys-
tem to the City orithout a dov^rn payment, and amortize the payments from the
profits of the systc~n. He stated he ti^ras az~rare the City did not :nave the cash
money to purchase the system, and he z^ras g5.vit~g them tizis means ~to be thin~ng
about.
IcfC'. Tank L, Heard, Jr., appeared before the Co:~:tission in connection ti^rith the
Humble ~ s suit z~rith the City. The Commission set a special meeting ~r°rith I<7s^.
Heard for June 25th, 1952, at 6:30 P. I.T.
Ie1r. Scott, representir~; Stalsby Tractor Company discussed the mowing machine.
IY7r. Scott did not have information available that the Cormu.ssion granted, so
the matter eras tabled until their next meeting.
The City Commission instructed the City Attorney to drag up a grass cutting
ordinance.
