The City Co?~ission unanimously accepted the Buildi ng Code Comr.~..ttee ~ s recommen-
dation of adoption of the Plational U~?7.~_ding Codes abbreviated edition of 19?~°,
and instructed the City "ttorney to draTr up an ordinance in accordance c;ith same.

The City Clerk read a letter i`~om the La Porte Independent School District, in
connection ~^ri.th B1 ock 103, La Forte, ~~r'i~ich has been purchased by the n; ~tr-i_ct
for the purpose of building a neti°;* elementary school for tl~ colored children
in the near future. In this J_etter they requested the city to cut and grade
for drainage, all streets bounded by the above mentioned block. They also re-
quested the cost of s~zppl,T.Lng and grading shell on these streets.
The Commission instructed the City Clerk to ti~rrite the La Porte Independent School
.strict, and advise them the city tirould grade ~ihe streets ~~rithout charge, and
the city ~~rould place shell on these streets at ?1.45 per cubic yard, she11. to be
8" thick, 20 ~ tride, spread in place.

The Commission instructed the City Clerk to ;-Trite the Texas League of I:Tunici-
palities for a copy of a livestock ordinance suitable fora ci t`r the size of
La Forte.

The Commission tisere in favor of letting the La Porte Recreation Association
use Lots 18 to 28, Bloclc 66, Bay ?Front Addition; hcr~~rever, at this tis-ne they
had not acquired title, but had only a verbal agreement from the Temple
Lumber Company to deed these lots to the City.
The City Clerk presented the Commission a statement from the Geier al Accounting
office, a claim for `;6,600.00, claim dated June 27, 1952,
