LA PORTE CITY COI~ISSION -OCTOBER 2, 1952

Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor M, D.Burgin,
with the follc~ring members and city officials present: Com:ni.ssioners L. R. Rigby
and Robert A. White, Supt. of Publ3,c ',storks ~. A. Arthur, City Attorney Edward J.
Cade, and City Clerk J.E. Muldoon.
Minutes of t he last meetings were read and approved.
A lengthy discussion was held with ~. Ernest Bro~rn, Bond Broker, in connection
with contemplated street and building bond issue. It was Mr. Brown's opinion the
City could float an issue of X200,000.00, with an increase in the tax rate to
twenty-one cents (~,21y~) per hundred, He suggested to the Commission that they
have their engineer,.drag a plan to ascertain. the cost and for selling issue to
the people. The Commission authorized the Mayor to contact A. B. Moore, Engineer,
fcr the cost of dra:sing a tentative plan for street work contemplated,
The Comn~i.ssion instructed the City Attorney to draw up as ordinance making it a
penalty for a~ person not duly authorized, to tamper with the city's water meters
or any other appurtenances to the city's water lines.
Motion by White, second by Rigby, authorizing the Supt. of Public Works to pur-
chase four winging trash cans and. place in appropriate, locations on Main Street.

The Commission unanimously instructed the City Clerk to pay the State and County
taxes aryl court costs on Lots 18 to 28, Block 66, Bay Front Addition, and to
proc~e tax certificate.
Carried.
Motion by ~xite, :secorxl by Rigby,- to re-appoint the La Porte Liberal, as the
Cityt s official neePSpaper.

BE HELD IN ACCORDANCE WITH SUCH NOTICE ON OCTOBER 16TH AT
71 A. M. AT THE CITY HALL, CITY OF LA PCE~TE, TEXAS.

The City Clerk asked the Comatl.ssion for a ruling on whether they wanted to
charge the rust Baptist Church interest for the moneys advanced for curb
and gutter construction on Hi.ghsray ].lab.
The Commission instructed the City Clerk to charge the church the same interest
rate as the other property owners.
The City Clerk read a letter to the Commission from the F3.re Insurance Comm-
ission, in which they requested a ffiap from the City showing the city 7.i.mit
lines as amended.
The Co~si.saion stated they would t ake some action on this matter immediately.
