LA PORTE CITY COI~SSION - ~dARCH 6TH, 1953
10:00 A. M.
Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor r4. D. BnY-
gin, with the following members and city o~'f'i.cials present: Commissioners L, R.
Rigby and Robert A.White, Supt. of Pnb13~c !~ca~ks ~f. A. Arthur, City Attorney Etl,.
ward J, Cade, and City Clerk J. E, Mu7.doon.
Plinutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The M~rar instructed the City Clerk to open and tabulate bads for ranavir:g
existing roof of the Digester Plant, and replace it with a new roof.
The bids were opened and tabulated as follo~rs:

We propose to bid as follows on Emhoff Tank:
Remove roof off Digester Plant, replace all framing and deck-
ing, bolts, and roof with fir lumber, paint with two coats of
wood preserved.

We will pour deck with light wei~ht Aggregate, not weighing

of Du Pont Primer paint. Adding new mailers, holding same to 2I~" 0. C.
Bolting nai.lers to existing steel struct~e. Nailers will be of ~rolmwnized
treated 2 a ~ and 2 x b. Removing existing roof and wood structure. Replac-
ing roof tivith 3 ply built uP tar and gravel. Will place ventilators where
City Engineer specifies, at no additional cost. Ventilators to be furnished
by City, This for the sum of X1,103.19. Thank You far the opporturdty to bid.

Redvrood, No. 2 Grade, This proposal is usi~ same constructioa in framing,
but using Redwood in place of Fir as sheeting. (No painting). This for the
sum of X1,243,19. Find en~alosed tracings representing present constrruction
and proposed construction. All work to be done by first class craftsmen in
good workmanship Wanner.
Motion by White, second by Rigby, to accept Yid subari.tted by Koy Shipp, for
replacing old roof with near Redwood roof, for his bid of X1,243.19.
Carried.
A. B. Moore and Lowell Lammers submitted plans far remodel3.ng buildit~ ad-
jacent to ~ esent City Hall. After much discussion, the building plans
rare appro4ed, and. upon motion b9' Rigby, second by ti'~hite, instructing the
City Clerk to publish 'TTOTICE TO BIDDERS~~ in the official newspaper, bids
to be opened Apri].-3, 1953, at 10:00 otclock A. M,
Carried.
Motion Yyy Wlx3.te, second by Rigby, instructing the City Clerk to redeem the
City of La Porte Sewer Funding Bonds dated May 10, 1938, being bonds ],5
to 22, inclusive, in the amount of $4,080.00, Clerk to use $2,369.00 nou
on deposit, and to borro~r ~l, 711, 00 from the Aeftinding B~ of 1934, s ~e
to be returned to this fund (1934 RE~ Borfds) when the City redeems
tyro Defense Bonds, Ser3.es F, payable ~' l4, 1954, and belonging to the
Interest and Sin~dng Fund of City oY La Porte Seger Funding Bond 1938,
Carried.
The CoW~Ti.ssian discussed locations far street lights, and this matter was
tabled for further stud of where the lights should be located.
g discussion was held with the City Attorney in connection with Social Sscur-
ity foz' City employees.
