Regular meeting of the City Commi.s~.on was ca~_led to order by T,~ayor id. D, Burgin,
with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners L, ft. Rigby
and Robert A. ti'rhi.te, City Attorney Edward J.Cade, City Engineer A. B, P.4oore,
Supt . of Public "'~c~k, ViT. A. Arthur, and City C1erY. J.E. L~fu~tdo an.
~~ii.nutes of the last meetings were read and approved.
Mr. H. L. Boggess, representing Paul Prince Buick Company of Bayto~rn, appeared
before the Commission and wanted to kno4v if they could place a frame building in
the Fire Zone in Block 51, La Pai°te. The Comr~i.ssion advised him he could place
frame building containing as much as a hundred square feet sn a temporary basis
in t1v.s I_ocGtic~.

Syndicate S~.ibdivision. She further stated that she expected to pay the cost of
the line fram the end of the ~iresent cityt s line to her property, and when other
oVan~ss tied ire to line they would have to pay their pro-rata cost of the construc-
ti.en, which would be refux~cied back to her.

After much discussion, tfie muter was turned over -Lo Comni.ssioner L. R.Rigby to
make survey anti recar~rnendation. The Com<ni.ssion advised Mrs. Cook they vrould let
her kr~o~r of their findings, about the middle of the v~~eek.
~~r. p. B. Idcc~e, City ~gineer on the streets, appeared before the Cort~.ssion
tivi.th plans on the proposed streets.
After much discussion, the street plans were approved, and upon oration by Rigby,
second by 1,~hite, instx~acting the Gity Cler1= to publish "Notice to Bidders" in
the City's official newspaper, bids to be opened Play l5, 1953, at i~:30 P. M.

The Commission instructed the City Attorney to have published in the Cityts
official nev.~spaper a Notice of Public Hearing on the street program, i or Zu;ay
11, 1953, at 7:30 P. Pd., Notice to be published in the paper on April 2l~th,
May 1st and b2ay 8th, -1953.

The City Clerk read a letter fron the Texas $i.gY~vay Department, in which they
requested additional info¢~mation on the plans submitted to than for paving
and drainage'in front of the new school located on Highv~ay 146.
This matter Tras turned over to A. B. ~~oore, F~gineer, to furnish them with
the additional inf carmation.
Iv2otion by Rigby, second by ~1hi.te, authorizing the City Clerk to issue C. E.
(;um~.ngs a Certificate of Commission, to act as an Auxiliary Policeman..
Carried.
The City Clerk read a letter from fl~Ioore & Moore, in connection ~crith their
drainage in front of 530 Broadway, or Block 109, La Porte.
The Come~.ssion ordered the letter placed on file.
The Commission instructed the City Clerk to write The League of Texas flduni-
cipaLities, for cagy of Ordinances and opinions dealing with livestock, in-
clud~ng chickens, rabbits, etc.
Mr. Al Pdiller appeared befc~'e the Commission irz connection with I~.s water
hook-up tid.th ~~r. H,G. Frier.
After much discussion, the Commission advi sed him they tivould try to work out
something that would be satisfactory to both of them.
The City Clerk read a letter from the Church of Christ, in which they requested
the City place traffic signs in the proldrdty of their church, located on
~-C~ay 7-46.
This letter was turned aver to the Supt. of Public 1~orks, ~d.A. Arthur, to make
a survey of the need of these signs.
The City Clerk read a letter from E. H. Cole, written in behalf of Mr, H. A.
Nesbit, who claims he is the ov~raer of Lots 1,5, 16~ 17, Block 66, B~,y Front.
These lots were quit Claimed to the City of La Porte by the Temple Lumber
Compar~y. Mr. Nesbit offered to sell these Lots to the City of La Porte f or
~35o.O0, ar~d the City assume any outstanding taxes.
The City rejected this offer, for reason theyf elt the price was high, and re-
ferred the matter to the City Attorney to ascertain the record ov~ner.
