Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor ~. D.
Burgin, with the following members and city officials pres®nt~ Commissioners
L~ R. Rigby and Robert A. White, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon.
A lengthy discussion was held on the street work now in progress in the City
of La Porte.
The Commission instructed the City Clerk to write the League of PJhinicipalities
for information on old folks or rest homes.
Motion by Y~hite, second by Rigby, authorizing the City Clerk to issue a
permit to T. E. Bolding, rernittee, to operate a taxicab in the City of La-
Porte, in accordance with Ordinance No. 397•
Carried.
Itlotion by White, second by Rigby, awarding contract to Balco, Incorporated,
of Deer Park, Texas, in th® amount of ~19,08~j.00, for paving and drair_age
ir_ La Porte, Texas, same being advertised 1~'ovember 12 and November 19, 1953,
subject to the approval of the City P.ttorney
Carried.
The T~Iayor introduced an Ordinance which was read in full. Commissioner Robert
A. -~~hite moved that it be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Com-
missioner L. R. Rigby, and carried by the f ollowin.g vote= AYES, Mayor Burgin,
Commissioners ~~`hit e and Rigby. NOF,S, None .
The Ordinance thus adopted follows: ORDINANCE 157
AT? ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUAP:CE OF X21,000.00 STREET IMPROVE-
MENT TI~,.~ WA??RANTS SERIES 1953 OF THE CITY OF LA PORT E, TEXAS; PRE-
SCRIBING THE TER?:-iS AND CONDITIONS T?POT? 1~'HICH SAID vVARRANTS SHALL
BE ACCEPTED; LEVYING T1:XES TO PROVIDE PAY112ENT THEREOF.
The City Clerk was instruoted to contact the City •4ttorne~, and have him
write a Fire Marshall's Ordinance, as reconunend®d by the ire Insurance
Division of Texas.
Upon motior. by Rigby, second by ~~hite, the meeting adjourned.
Carried.
