• M~TUTES - REGULAR MEETING LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION -APRIL 16, 195. ~~ ~.s30 P. M. Regular meeting of the City Commission w as called to orderfl~r Mayor Burgin, with the follcyrr3.ng members and city officials present: Commissi©ners L. R, Rigby and Robert A. Wh3.te, City Attorney Edgard J. Cade, Supt. of Public works W. A. Arthur, and City Clerk J.E. Muldoon. Minutes of the last meetings were read and appranred. Mr. C. J. Lefferty and Yr, L. H. Hudson, representatives of the South~restern Bell Telephone Company, appeared before the Commission to discuss the telephone rates at -the La Pone Municipal Airport. ~. Lefferty told the Commission that t here was not enough business in t he vicinity of the airport, and to bring i.n their Southern boundary lines, and extended West it might mean an overall rate increase for the entire City. He advised the Commission that he would get some more figures and would talk to the airport officials about their t elepho~e rates. The Mayor introduced an Ordinance which eras read in full.. Commissioner White moved that it be adopted as read.. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Rigby and carried by the follonring vote: AYES: Mayor Burgin, Commissioner White, Commissioner Rigby. NOES: None. The Ordinance thus adopted f®1lovrs: Ordinance No. x.62 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING DELIVERY OF A FIRST AND FINAL TNSTAI~LI~TT OF CITY OF LA PCRTE STREET IMS'ROVEMIIdT TIME WARRANTS, SIl~IES 1953. The Mayas introduced an Ordinance which was read in full.. Commissioner Rigby made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Commissioner White, and carried by the folla~3.ng v®te: AYES: Mayor Burgin, Commissioners White and Rigby. NOF~: None. The ordinance thus. adopted fellanrs: ordinance No. 163 AN ORDINANCE AUTIgRTZING GIVING~OF NOTICE OF INTENTION OF ISSUING REE'UNDTNG BONDS. The Mayor introduced an Amendment to Ordinance Nc~. ~ which was read in full. C®mmissioner White moved that it be adopted as read.. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Rigby and carried by -the fallovring vets: AYES: Malre:r Burgin, Commissioners Rigby and White. NOES: None. The amendment follows: Ordinance No. ~-A AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. ~,1.~2 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, FOR AN EXTENSION BY PROPEt1TY OWNERS OF WATER AND SENERAGE FACILITIES INTO AREAS WHEftE NO SUCH FACILITIES EXIST. Rigby, authorizing the City Clerk to issue t® Balco~ Inc., check for $5000.©O, being a part of the 1C1~ retainer.. ' Carried. A discussion xas held ®n filing a suit against the compagy which installed the Blwrer at the Disp®sal. Plant. Motion by White, second by Rigby, instruct- ing the City Attorney t~o file suit against J. M. 1Phite & Sons, atad other parties that installed the Blo-rer. Ca~'ried. lotion by White, seccnd by Rigby authorizing the Ci'~y Clerk t• issue a cfieck +to H. J. Stinson, in the amount of X57.87, fas~ staking "H" Street, from 16th Street to property of Del-Mar Corporation. Carried. The Mayor reported-that he had made an inspection of the work being done on the water tank and toner, and stated that it needed a great deal m®re work to be d®ne than had been contempla~bed. He stated the P3.ttsburg Tank and Tower Company could do this Bark for an additional ~2,5l,~.oa, c~nrer thejr original contract of $1s100.0U. The Ccanmission preferred to want and talk to J. T. Cook, Welding contractor, before spending at~y' further money on the tank. The City Commj.ssion voted uaanimous]y to hold the. Regina Biennial election of city officials 3.n the new part of the City Hall. P The Public Works Superintendent was instructed to get figures on the amount a~f money it would take to consi~ruc~ a nex dog pen with a concrete flmor. There being no further business to come before the- meeting, upon motion by Rigby, second by White, the meeting adjourned. Carried.
