Regular meeting of .the City Comm~.ssion wascalled to order by Mayor M.D.Bur- gin~ with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners L, R. Rigby and Harold P. Pfeiffer, City Attorney Edward J. Cade, Supt. of Public ~lorks ~. A. Arthur, and Gity Clerk J.E. Muldoon. Minutes of the last meeting W ere read and approved. Motion by Rigby,, second by Pf eif f er, to pay the election clerks X12.00 each and the Presiding Judge X16.00, for holding the City Biennial elections and pro-rate the balance of the filing fees back to the candidates. Carried. Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer' to pay the Mayan $100.00 per month and the Co~ttni.ssioners X50.00 each, monthly. Carried. • The Commission unanimously approved the appointment of the follo~aring officers: J. E. Muldoon YS. A. Arthur Walter Y. Roberson John Champagne Dee -'Y.Cottrell W.A. Stabs, Jr. Roy Evans Geo. Traylor Wm. H. Baugh La Porte Liberal City Clerk Supt. cYf Public Works Chief of Poliae Night Watchman Dog Catcher & Special. Officer Fire Marshall Paid Fireman Chairman of Real Estate Comm. Airport Manager City~s official newspaper Motion by Burgin, second by Rigby to appoint Frank R. Boyle, Sr., C~.vi.lian Defense Director, x3.th Fred R. Ruff as his Assistant. Carried. Motion by Pfeiffer seQOnd by Rigby, to appoint J. 0. Rollins Fire Chief upon recommendation of the Fire Department. Carried. The Mayor appointed Chas. F. Norris City Corporation Court Judge, rich was unanimously approved by the Commission. Motion by Pfeiffer second by Burgin, instructing the City Attorney to write an ordinance appointing the officers named in the above motions, and leave the City Attorney's office vacant temporarily. Carried. 216 • Motion by Rigiry, second by Pfeiffer, to appoint Jno. S. Kiibler as Special Counsel for the City of La Porte, to institute suit againtt J. ][.white & Sons, for damages sustained by the city on account of the D~i3.lure of blower at the Disposal Plant,, which xas installed under• contract with J. M. Wh3.te & Sons and the City of La Porte, dated October i3~ 1951. Carried. Upon motion by Commissioner Rigby, duly seconded by Commissioner Pfeiffer, and carried by unax~imous vote, it was ordered that the first Friday at 10:00 A. M. of each month, arxi the third Friday at l~:30 P. M. of each m®nth, shall hereafter be the regular meeting times of the Cat y Comm- ission of the City of La Porte. The Mayor appointed L. R. Rigby as Mayor Pro-Tem, which was unanimously approved by the Commission. Mayor Burgin made the following appointments: Commissioner L. R. Rigby, Street, Police and Garbage Departments; Commissioner H. P. Pfeiffer Sewer, Pater and Fire Departments. These appointments were unanimously approved by the Commission. The Commission unanimously approved all those ®aployees present],y em- ployed be re-employed at their present salary or wages. The Commission instructed the City Clark t© have the Oath of Office administered t® each. A Surety Bond in the amount of X15,000.00, on J. E. Muldoon as Principal wa.s unanimously appr®ved by the Commission. A discussion was held ~m extending sewer mains to the annexed property at Sylvan 'Beach addition. Nothing definite was decided. upon at this time, and further discussion will be held on this matter at a future meeting. A discussion was held on the purchase of a new garbage truck bei. This matter was referred to Commissioner Rigby. A discussion was held on the streets. Motion by Pfeiffer second by Rigby' to run fire lines on 11th Street, to Blocks 23 & 2~., La Porter upon assurance there would be 1la. houses built in each of these blocks. Carried.
