Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayo M. D.Burgin,
with the following members and city officials present: Commissioner H. P. Pfeiffer,
(Rigby on vacation) Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, and Gity Clerk J.E. Muldoon.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Mr,Avery J. Mouton appeared before the Commission and made an application for a
permit to build a sheet metal building to enlarge his washateria. He advised the
Commmission he planned to use wood studs in the construction of this building.
The Commission denied his application for reason that building was to b e con-
structed in the fire zone and wood is not permitted for studs in said zone.
The City Commission instructed the Corporation. Clerk to issue warrants to those
persons who ignored his letter to appear in court on traffic violations, an
additional fee of X5.00 for issuing warrant of arrest, to be added to fine..
A discussion was held on the Pittsburg Tank and Tower Company in connection with
insurance claims. This matter was turned over to the Special Counsel, Jno. S.
Kiibler, f or action.
The City Corrrmission unanimously denied the La Porte Volunteer Fire Department
per~cri.ssion to put red libhts and sirens on their cars unless the volunteer
firemen had a rider on their liability insurance policy that would cover arty
accident in which. the firemen might be involved vrhile such equipment was in use.
The Commission instructed the Public Works Superintendent to clean brush out
of alley between North Second az d North lst Streets.
The City Com^.d.ssion approved a bell and light system that will tie in Vrith
the countywide defense alarm.. The system will cost the city an estimated
X7.50 per month for the telephone.
The City Commission instructed the Special Counsel, Jno. S. Kiibler, to write
Ed Niles and request him to irmmediatelYy return materials that he had borrowed
some months ago.
The Commission unanimously appointed H. P. Pfeiffer Mayor Pro Tem, until the
return of Mayor Burgin, or the regularly appointed Mayor Pro-Tem, L. R. Rigby,
from their vacations .
There being no further business, upon. motion by Burgin second by Pfeiffer, the
meeting adjourned.
