Regular meeting of the City Commission was called. to order by I44ayor M. D. Durgin, with the following menbers and city officials present: Commissioners L. R. Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Supt. of Public ~"forks ~d. A.Arthur, Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, and City Clerk J.E. rJluldoon. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The Mayor ordered the City Clerk to open the bids on the garbage chassis, and on the body for same. The City Clerk read the following bids Hatcher Motors Base Bid X2,197.75 Wells Motor Co. Base Bid $1,993.52 Mc R4i]1an Chev.Co. Base Bid $1,575.00 Jack Roach Motor Co. Base Bid X2,198.20 Bids on the body were as follows: South Texas Equip.Co. Base Bid $3,850.00 Hobbs Manufacturing Company Base Bid X3,970.00 The Mayor stated that these bids would be analyzed and t he bids would be awarded with- in the next few days. Don Skelton appeared before the Commission and requested a permit in the fire zone for an addition to a house situated on part of lot ],5, and all of lot 16, Block No. 39, La Porte. Upon examination of the plans and the n~ure of the building, a motion was made by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, authorizing tre City Clerk to issue Skelton a permit. Carried. I~otion by Pfeiffer, second by Rig'oy, to pay Balco, Inc., ~5000.Q0 on his street eort,ract, with $I~78.30 of this amount being paid to Balca, Inc., and Johnson and Johnson. Carried. The Commission instructed; Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler to contact J. M. tiVhite and Sons, and see what progress was being made on the blower. Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, authorizing Special Counsel Jn©. S. Kiibler to amend ordinance to provide far the sum of X5.00 to be charged as costs from persons arrested under a warrant of arrest or capias after failure to appear 3n Corporation Court to answer a charge of violation of a traffic ordinance or law, and providing that said sum of money shall be paid as compensation to the city officer who receives such warrant of arrest or capias. P Pfeiffer, Vdater Commissioners and ~. A. Arthur Wat er Superint ardent, t o adjust Charles Dumham~ s April water bill. Mayor Burgin asked the Commission to study the present building code, with the thought of aanending szme and eliminating several unsatisfactoi^y pro- vi. sions .
