CL (n Special meeting of the City Commission eras ca]1ed to order by Mayor Ad, D. Burgin, with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners L. R, Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Supt. of Public Works W. A. Arthur and City Clerk J.' E. Muldoon. Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, and carried by unanimous vote, that the following Resolution be adopted: RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED .THAW THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, TENTATIVELY APPROVE THIS DATE THE BUDGET SUBI~ZITTED BY THE h.4AY0R FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR; THAT PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF DARING OF SAID BUDGET BE MADE IN THE OFFICIAL NDNSPAPER OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, ON AUGUST 6TH, 1954, AND SAID HEARII~IG BE HELD IN ACCORDANCE "JITH SUCH NOTICE ON AUGUST 20TH, 1954, at 4:30 0' CLOCK P. M. AT THE CITY HALL, CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS. Carried. Motion by Rigby, second by Burgin, appointing H. P . Pfeiffer Mayor Pro tem at arty time the Mayor or L. R. Rigby are absent from the City. Carried. a ~~ ~ F- V7 A chscussion was held on Nugent Avenue. The Mayor read a letter from the City of Houston in which they ask the City of La Porte to participate with the Harris County Welfare Board on the same basis that the City participated with the Harris County Air Pollution. The ~~ommission tabled this matter. The Mayor read a letter from W. Kyle Chapman, Commissioner, Precinct 1, thanking the Commission for vrhat they had done for him. He stated further that he fully intended to c ooperate in every way possible n~.th the City of La Porte on any projects which lie within the boundaries of the City limits ,whereby the County has any legal jurisdiction. W,A. Arthur, Supt. of Public Works, reported switch on traffic light at intersection of Highway 146 and "C" Streets, was worn out, and needed replacing. The Commission instructed Mr. Arthur to get more information and prices on this switch. .
