Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by I:Zayor I~, v. Burgin, with the following members and city officials present : Commissioners L. R . "igby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Supt, of Public ~Torks tiY. A. Artr~~m, Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, and Assistant City Clerk Fula Erwin, Ivlinutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Tv7r. V. K. Phillips, of the Texas ?~^~elding & Press Company, was also present. The Mayor opened the f oll awing bids on repairs to HD-5G Tractor Benson Tractor Co. X1,678.73 Texas ti"telding & Press Co. 1,11.52 rgotion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, to accept bid submitted by Texas FJelding & Press Co., for repairs to HD-5G Tractor, for their bid of ~1,1f~~.1i2. Carried. IvZotion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, to have all city equipment inspected, and stickers placed on them. Carried. It~iotion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, to appoint Vd. H. Baugh, Chairman of a committee which will work trnvard speeding up a State Highway project which will widen Highway 225, from Deer Park to La Porte, andtividen Hi~iway 1~.6, from Eat Porte to Seabrook. The I~~ayor requested the Commission to pass an ordinance regulating signs over sidewalks. The Commission requested the Spe`cial'. Counselto look into this matter, and report at the next regular meeting. TvIotion by ~tigby, second by Pfeiffer, to extend sewer tYmough Blocks 6 aril 19, after property orrn.ers put up their money fctt~ line, plus X25,00 tap fee. Carried. A discussion was held on extending sewer through Blocks 23 & 24, La Porte Addi- tion. After a survey of this section, it was decided that sewer extended to this section would function properly... Mayor Burgin read. a letter from County Attorney Burp Holman, stating that County Auditor, Mr. S. B. Bruce, had no record of payment fromCity of La Porte as it's contribution to the cost of Air and'~Yater Pollution Budget for 1954. 253 Pdotion by Pfeiffer, second by xigby, to pay City s part of Air and 'dater Pollution Budget, at a later date. 25~. The Commission instructed Supt. of Public i"forks, W. A. Arthur, to contact Grace Barksdale, and inform her that the sewer must be corrected at a house that she owns in Block 62, La Porte. Mayor Burgin read a letter from Karpark Corpar~ation, stating that if the City would clear up the balance due them for parking meters before December 15~ 195., a 2~ discount would b e allcnved. The Commission decided they would make monthly payments on pro rated basis, as in the past. Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, to~sell culvert pipe to property owners at cost, plus 3c~. Carried. The Commission unanimously agreed that lessee of airport would be responsible for repairs to a building damaged by fire recently, at airport. Iulotion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that stop signs be placed at "E" Street, intersecting Iowa, Carroll at "E", "E" at Black~1e11, and "B" at Iowa. Carried. The Commission instructed Public Z"Torks Supt. W. A. ~~rthur, to get cost of extending sewer to Lots 1 & 2, Block 203, La Porte. Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that Ordinance No. ~.77~ being AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING SE`~~1Il3. TAP CHARGE AI~TD S EVi~F.~t AND PLUMBING INSPECTION FEES, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THgRECVITH, be adopted as read. Carried.
