Regular meeting of the City Cor~n:i.ssion was called to order by Mayca~ M. Il9.Burgin,
with the following members and city officials present : Comm~issior~rs L. R. Rigby
and H. P. Pfeiffer, Supt. of Pub7.i,c ~'~orks 1~. A. Arthur, Special Counsel Jno. S.
Kiibler, and City Clerk J.E. Muldoon.
Minutes of the last meeting were read arr1 approved.
Mr. Charley Bronn, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, Architect, Engineer, appeared be-
fc~e the Commissions, and submitted completed plans for sanitary sewage lines, maA-
holes, lift plants and other appurtenances, as requested by the City Commission.
These plans are for the X60,000 sanitary sewer system improvements, which were re-
cently voted by the citizens of La Porte.
The City Commission unanimously adopted the plans and specifications submitted by
Wyatt C. Hedrick~s office.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that the folloaring Invitation for Bids, be
made :
Sealed proposals addressed to the Honorable Mayor and City Commission
of the City of La Porte, Texas, for the construction of Sanitary Sewer
extensions in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by
Wyatt C. Hedrick, Engineer, and adopted by the City Commission of the
City of La Porte, Texas, x.11 be received by the office of .the City
Clerk of the City of La Porte, Texas, until x.:30 P. M. on the 18th d~
of ~ Februarys 1955, and then publicly opened and read aloud. Any bids
received after c'Il.osing time will be returned unopened.
Emrelopes must be marked "Sanitary Sewer Extensions for the City of
La Porte, Texas". _
A cashiers s check or acceptab]~ bidder's bond. payable to the City
of L~, Pa~rte, Texas, in an amount not less than five (5) per cent
of the largest possible total for.the bid submitted must accompany
each proposal..
Plans and specifications may be examined without charge in the
office of the Engineer, 5201 Farmin, Houston, or in the of fic e of
the City Clerk, La Porte, Texas, ar one set may be procured from
the En~t.neer upon deposit of X25.00 as a guarantee of their safe
return ~rithin ten (10) days after award of the oontract. Addi-
tional sets may be secured for the actual cost of reproduction.
All of the work shown on or in the plans and specifications is to
be included in any bid submitted. 8i.ds for only part of the yr ork
will not be considered.
The owner_reservee the right to reject any cr a]1 bids and to
wdi.ve all formalities.

Mr. H. -B. Harrison and Mr. 93. H. Mulvey appeared before the Commission,
and asked if the City would furnish them with a fire line, which ~
serve !~8 new homes-that they are e~leavoring to construct within the .-
near future in the vicinity of K and M Streets.
The Commission advised these gentlemen that if they constructed 1~8 homes
the City would furnish them with a fire line, and place a fire hydrant
at "L" Street.

Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, authorizing the City Clerk to issue
a taxicab permit to T. E. ~3olding, permitting him to operate a taxicab
in the City of La Porte, in a ccordance with Ordinance No. 397.
Carried.
Maytr Burg3.n requested the Commission to select 7 locations for street
lamps, which the City is qualified to receive fry the Houston Lighting
& Power Company.
Mayc:c Burgin asked the Commission to have this information ready for the
next regular Commission meeting.
Motion by Rigby second by Pfeiffer authorizing check in.the amour of
~1~.00 be issued to-.the Treasurer of Harris .County, for the City of
La Porte ~ s pro rata share in the County Air and Stream Pollution Survey.
Carried.
The Commission referred verbal agreemer~ made with Geo. H. Sharp,.Jr.,
i.n connection with water connection on nest J Street, to Special Counsel
Jno. S. Kiibler, to put in written form.
The Coarmiission had a discussion with Jno. S. Kiibler, Special Counsel, on
the J.D. Morrow tract.
The City Commission voted unanimously to hold its s regularly scheduled
February ~t, 1955, meeting, on February lst, 1955, instead. This will be
a Special meeting, at which time bids for the sale ~ $60,000 Sanitary
Sewer System Improvement Borris, will be accepted and opened.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that ~e meeting adjourn.
