MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING
LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION -MARCH 2ND, 1955

Special meeting of the City Commission was called to carder by Mayor M. D.
Burgin, with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners
L.R. Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer A. S. Koehler, Architect, and J.E. Muldoon,
City Clerk.
This meeting was called for the purpose of trying to work out a municipal
wage rate on sewer extension Job No. 4713, and for awarding contract far'
said job.
M~. Marsiak ,representing the Houston Building & Trades CoLtncil, and Mr.
~B. L. Eldridge, with the Eldridge Construction Company, Tnc., appeared be-
fore the Commission, atxi discussed the wages to be paid on Job No. 4713.
An amicable die cue Sion was held, and Mr. Marsiak stated that the Houston
Building and Trades Council would abide by t he present wages, but if any
changes were made in the Council agreements, they would expect Mr. Eldridge
to abide by the changes, as of the date of the o!~ange. The difference in
wages, if any change were made, would revert to the City.
• The discussion ended with everybody in agreement.
~-A discussion was held with Mr. Eldridge on his total Base Bid "A", of
X53,709.71.
1~fter much discussion, upon motion by Pfeiffer, seconxi by Rigby, the bid
__ was awarded to B. L. Eldridge Construction Co., Inc., in the mount of
X53,709.71, upon the approval of Jno. S, Kiibler~ Special Attarrey.
Carried.
The Mayor requested this Resolution be a part of the Minutes.
.. The Commission authorized the following Resolution be entered as a part of
the Minutes.

NONE, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY mUNCIL OF THE C]TY OF •

(1) That the Contract far the construction of the Sanitary Surer
Extensions, Contract No. 4713, be and is hereby awarded to the Contractor
and in the amount as shown -below:
Total Base Bid '~A" $53,709.71
(2) That the Mayor azl Secretary be and are hereby authorized arxi
directed to execute a contract v¢i.th said Contractor far said vuork in
accordance with the plans and spep.ficat3ons and contract documents here-
tofore approved by the City Council.

The Coa~unission unanimously authorized the City Clerk to issue a check 3.n
amount of $l,ltbl~.$3, to Wyatt C. Hedrick, in payment of Engineering Estimate
No. 1, on Job No. X713.
Carried.
There being no further business, upon motion by Rigby second. by Pfeiffer,
the meeting adjourned,
