D. Burgin' math the follav3.ng members and city officials present: Commissioners L. R. Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer, A. B. Moore, Engineer, and J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk. TY~ purpose of this meeting was to chscuss with Mr. R. C. Ballantyne, Vice- President and General Manager of Balco, Inc., Street Contractor, street repairs on streets his company recently constructed in the City of La Porte. Other interested persons present were Dale Brown and J. H. Poole with the Houston 1'3xe & Casualty Company. Some of the excerpts from the discussion was as follows: A. B. Moore: "I would not hold Mr. Ballantyne responsible for failuxes on 50' of South Holmes, one block on North Holmes (near Rex Baker), and three streets one block long near Sylvan Beach, v~ich were all constructed ace~ding to plans submitted by the Commission". ,~ Ray Ballantyne: "In my opinion there was not enough base material placed on the streets". Mayan Burgin: "Do you mean to say that we don't have any good streets in La- Porte?". Rav Ballantyne: "Noy you have a good many good streets". A. B. Moore: "The plans reflected the material to be used before you started. We ordered shell that was necessary and paid for same, and in main, followed the specifications". Ray Ballantyne: "I would have to go over the job to ascertain what streets are my fault. I have a list of the streets, furnished by the City, which are claimed by them to be faulty. I will do anything that is fair". Mr. Ballantyne and Mayor Burgin both suggested that the Commissioners, Mr. A. B. Moore, Mr. Leech, and themselves, make an inspection of the streets at 9:30 A. M., March 12, 1955. Mayor Burgin; "The City spent more money for inspection than was set up". J. H. Poole : "I am not a lawyex, but I w ou1.d say the original contract would control the length of guarantee held on the streets" . Motion by Pfeiffer, second. by Rigby that the meeting adjourn.
