Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by May~~ar M. D.
Burgin, with the fo]lowing members and city officials present: Commissioners
L. R. Rigby said H. P. Pf'eciffer~ Special Counsel Jao. S. g3.ibler, and City Clerk
J.E. Mu].doe>n.
This meeting was cal]:ed for the pc~pos® of discussing street repairs anal sewer
fob No. 4713.
Mayaa~ Burgin read a letter from Mr. R.C. Ballsntyne, in which he stated ghat he
would de about repairing the streets of La Porte.
After much discussion, the Commission agreed unanimously to furnish their high
lift and mortar gradea~, and personnel to operate same. The City would also fmc_
nd.sh a maximum of 20() tons of stabilized shell and would remove all dug-out
base material from site of operations, and ask that Balla.ntyrie furnish all
other necessary materials, and request that he commence operation in this
matter oat later than: April 25, or earlier if possible.
Carried.
After much discussion, the Commission unanimous]y set a fee ~ X49.53, fcr seo-er
line extension and each sewer tap, on Job No. It713.
Carried.
The Commission unanimously appointed Roy C. Evans to pick up dogs for im-
pounding, on emergency calls, and only those calls apprmred by a member of the
Cc~maission, sr J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk.
A discussion was held on a proposed Port Area Bill. This bd~ll would give the
Port Commission regulatory powers over the railroads.
After much discussion, the City Commd.ssion appai.nted Mayor M. D. Burgin to
represent the City, and the City would pay his car expenses to Austin, Texas
April l.}a., 1955, in connection with this bill.
