LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION - SEPTEMBER 2, 1955

Regular meeting of tho City Cflmmissipn was oalled to order by Mayor M. D. Burgin
wl.th the Pollowing members and city officials present: Commissioners L. R.
Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Supt. of Public VYorks W. A. Arthur, Special Counsel
John S. Kiibler, and Asst. City Clerk Eula.Erwin.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer to ask .for bids on an automobile to b®
used as a police .car.
Carried.
Mr. M. L. Armentrout, Director of Civil Defense in Padadena, and a delegation
appeared bef ore the Commission and stated that they are planning a practice
evacuation drill in Pasadena during the week of Ootober 9th. They requested
the City of La Porte to co-operate with them in returning the evacuees to
Pasadena through La Porte.
The Commission unanimously agreed to co-operate ..with Pasadena in every
way possible in their practice evacuation drill.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer,-that the following persons be appointed
as ~'~uxiliary Policemen: A,rt Simpson and Carl L. Thompson.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby,osecond by Pfeiffer, to take out accident policies with
Maryland Casualty Co. through the La Porte Insurance Agency to cover the
Auxiliary Police, Chief of Police and Night Watchman.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby,,second by Pfeiffer, that Ordinance No. !~$t{., being

CITY OF LA, PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1955 AND
ENDING JUNE 30, 1956.
