Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Ma~yc7~' M. D. Burgi.n~ with the following members ao~d dty off`icial`s, present: Cam~ri.ssioners L. R. -Rigby and H. P, Pfeiffer, (Supt. W. A. Arthur on vacation) Special Oour~sel Jno.S; Kiiblar, atd, City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Minutes of the last meeting were read and.approved. - M~rcr Burgin requested the City Clerk to open and read aloud the bids for a neW automobile far the City, to be used in the Police Department. The~bids were opened and read as followrs: e dells Motor Compax;y _ - X1529.00 Jay Marks Chevrolet 11.~]5.1t0 ` Hatcher Motor Co. 1733.00 After considerable discussion on these :-bids,, it was un~nimouply derided thab mo action on the purchase of a x~ew police .car Mould ti e t awn at this time, and -that this matter will be taken up at a future date, Motion by Rigby, seooxd by Pfeiffer, to employ Vernon Sheffield-, Accountant, to assist the City in the Telephone Company rate increase ma~tter~ Carried. Motion by Pfeiffer, secoixl. by Rigby, authorising Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler to write letters to Farringtc~ and Humble Company, pertaining to right-of~ray on TMJ" Street to Sylvan Beach Parka A discussion was }geld on buildixg lines. . ; - - Carried.... . Motion by Rigby, second by Pfe~i.ffer, to set up a personnel -file, and that a17. present city employees be required to fi].1 out an application blank, and return same to the city office to be placed on file. Also, persons wishing to make application for e~playment with the City of La Porte, be required to ~.ll in application blank, and same to be filed. with the City Clerk: in the ure, Carried. Motion by Pfeiffer, seeo~ad by Rigbyi, that bond of Frank G. Baker, as City Clerk, ,~ by Maryland Casualty Corapat~y, in the affiom~t of ~],5,~0.00, _ be approved .and r" accepted. Baker, City Clerk, was authorized to give Houston Lighting & Power Company a priority list on electric servS.ce far dty consumption. Motion by Pfeiffer- second by Rigby that the City Clerk have published a Legal Notice for a public hearing on the Southeestern'Bell telephone Company's request for higher rates 3.n La Porte.
