LA PORTE CITY COB~ISSION - NOVEME3ER 4TH, 1955
10:00 A. M.
Regular meeting of theCity Commission was called to ceder by Ma~rce M.D. Burgin,
withthe Yollo~ing members and city officials present : Con~mi.ssioners L. R .
Ruby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Special Counsel Jno. s. Kiibler, Supt. of Public
~Porks 91f. A. Arthur' and City Clerk Frank G. Bahr.
Also present was Mrs.W. A. Stabs, Sr., press representative.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, to make necessary survey on repair to
sidewalk, and cost estimate on same, and to make arrangements fare the repair
of water crossing sidev~alk behind cl,eani.ng and pressir.~ shop at Main and
2nd Streets;
Carried.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, to purchase 20 stop signs, to be placed
at designated City streets.
Carried.
I~tion by Pfeiffer, second. by Rigby to authorize City Clerk to compile
list of city property, to offer for sale.
Carried.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, to increase John Champagnes car
allowance from X12.50 to X25.00 per month, effective November 1st, 1955.
Carried.
Motioffi by Pfeiffer, second by R3.gby~ to increase salary of Police Chime
R. E, Jacobs, tom X315.00 to $340.00 per month, effective Yc~ember lst,
1955.
Carried.
Discussion on Eldridge contract, and disposition of same was referred to
Special C ounsel Jno. S, Kiibler.
Mayor Burgin reported. that Mr. Ballentyne, of Balco, Incorporated, re-
qu a sted a rele ase from the City on street cow reef . Inasmuch as the job
was not satisfactory, his request was denied.

Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that Ordinance No. 188, be adopted as
read...
Carried.
The caption of such adopted Ordinance reads as follows:
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE DRIVING, OPERATING, PARKING CR STAND-
ING A MOTS VEHICLE OR TRAILED ACP,OSS, OVER, CN OR ALONG ANY SIDE-
TJPALK OR SIDE4IALK AREA EXCEPT IN AN ALLEYCPAY OR PRIVATE DRIVHf~AY;
PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING ANY PROVIDICN OF THIS OF~INANCE
SHALL BE DEEMID GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPC~T CONVICT~CN SHALL
BE FINID IN ANY SUM NOT TO EXCEID TAfO HUNIRED DOLLARS (200.00);
PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES 0&i`PARTS 'OF~
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERENITH TO THE EXTENT OF S UC H QJNELICT
AND PROVIDING THAT THIS CRDINANCE SHALL TASE EFFECT FRDM AND AF-
TPR ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION.
Motion by Pfeiffer, seed by Rigby that the fal3owing holidays be observed

Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, to allow Eagles Cl~fi to hold their
annual turlfley s hoot under the supervision of Chief of Police Jacobs. No
hay will be alloyed inside t he Fire Zone. Grounds where shoot is held
must be cleaned up after event is over.
Carried.
Motion by R.igby~ second by Pfeiffer to release liens not involved on East
A Street, between Broadway and San Jacinto.
Carried.
