Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor M.D. Burgin, with the following members and city officials present : Comm3.ssioners H. P. Pfeiffer and L. R, Ri.gby~ Special Counsel Jno.S. 8iibler, 3upi~, of Public Works ~P.A.Arthur, arn~dd City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were Mrs. ~f. A. Stabs, press representative, Mr. Ernest L. Brown, Jr.~ and Mr. R.B. Blackshear from Spen~rick Addition. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Blackshear appeared bef are the Commission in the interest of Spe nta ck plac~a being annexed to the City of La Porte, and to discuss the possibilities of this being done. Motion by Pfeiffer, second bg Rigby, that the following Resolution be adopted : WHEREAS, voting machines have been adopted for use at all elections to be held in Harris County, Texas, by the Commissioners Court of Harris County, Texas; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has determined that voting machines should be used for. the casting of absentee votes at the coming regular City election: IT IS, THEREFORE, ORDERED that vo ting machines be used far the casting of absentee votes at the City election to be held April 2!}, 1956. Carried. Motion by Pfeiffer, secozxi by Rigby that Ordinance No. 493, as introduced by Mayor Bur gi. n and read in it ~ s entirety and le ngth, be passed, 6:55 P. A~.
