Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to a~der by Mayo M. D. Burgin, with the follovPi.ng members and city officials present: Commissioners H. P. Pfeiffer arr3 L.R. Rigby, Special Counsel Jno. S: Riibler, Supt. of Public Works W.A. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were Mrs . Wm. A. Stabs, Reporter, and Mr. ESrnest L. Brown, Jr. ~ UJ A discussion was held on plans for the Commission to setup a Planning Committee. Motion by Rigby, secorri by Pfeiffer, that City purchase fou" shirts and two pr. pants for Grady Hester, aryl that has salary be raised to X300.00 per month, effective May 1, 1956. Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, pre are a list of lots owned by the at ~:30 P. M. Motion by Rigby, second. by Pfeiffer, 1956, at t~:30 P. M. Carried. that Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler Ci+y, for a public sale May 18th 1956, " Carried. that meeting be recessed to April 27, ` Carried. ' - APRIL 27, 195b x:30 P.M. The City Commission of the City of La Porte reconvened at this time, with the following members present: Mayes M D.Burgin; Comrnissio~rs H. P. Pfeiffer and. L. ` R. Rigby, Specia_ 1 Counsel Jno.S. Riibler, Supt. of Public ~M1Tc¢~ks ~. A. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were Tommie Adams from the La Porte Liberal, John Eckhardt, Jay Marls, 1~alter Springall, Rueben Wright, Ernest L. Brown, Jr., and John Hatcher. Mayor Burgin asked that the returns of the city election, held on April 2l~th, 1956, be camrassed. The election returns were canvassed as follavs: FOR MAYCfft : Mercer D. Bur gi.n 1~.6 FQ~. Pfeiffer elected as Commissioners for a terra of two years. Carried. 3~6 C Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that gross receipts tax check in the amount of X17.26, from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, be accepted; _ ' Carried. Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that meeting be .recessed until Tuesday, May lst, 1956, at lt:30 P. M. Carried. MAY 1ST, 1956 4:3o P. M. Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that the matter of anne~o.rg the territory including Harris County Water Control and Improvemait District No. 56, be tabled. Carried.
