Regular meeting of the City Coimnission was called to order by Mayor M.D.~xrgin~,
with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners L. R.Rigby~
Special Counsol Jno. S. K iibler, Supt. of Public Works W,A. Arthur, and Frank
G. Baker,City Clerk. Also present were. P,~s. Stabs and Jack La~evler, Press
Chief of Police Glen Shepperd, Patrolman,W. _ A. Lowery and h8r. Bi7..1 Goldsmith.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Rigby, second by Btr gin, that eight new street lights be ordered from
the Houston Lighting & Ppvrer Compa.r~y~ and that said lights be placed~at the
following locations

Police cars at any time become the property of t he City.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby second by F3uxgin, that City take advantage of Government S~plus
Comrr-unications ~ystems not to exceed X500.00.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby second b Burgin, that Glen Shepperd be appointed Chief of
Polices at base pay of ~3~5.00.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby second by Burgin, that A.Vd. Lowery be appointed Patrolman at
base salami of 285.00, for g0 day pr obation.
Carried.
Motion by Rigby' second by Burgin that City order fifty street markers.

sublease from Cliff Hyde F'].ying Service, Ines dated 12-5-1956, ar~d that
the ~~Zayor and City Clerk be a~thotized to sign consent.

Aiotion by Rigby, second by Burgins that City purchase 195t~ Chevrolet truck
from Moore & LI oores for X625.00.
Carried.
T:gcation by Rigbys second by Burgins that Cantwell sewer line be constructed
by Citys at a cost to him of ~321.00~ z~rith °51.00 to be paid down, and the
balance to be paid in three equal monthly installments, such contract to be
subject to adjustmerrt.

BE IT RESOLVID by the City Commission of the City of La Porte,
Texas, that Frank R. Boyle, Civilian Defense Bn.rector fear the City of
La Pcrtes Texas, be and he is hereby, authorized axxi instructed to males ~
execute and deliver a request, or requestss far Donable Government Surplus
Personal Property for Ci-~ri.l ~fense as in his exclusive judgment and dis-
cretion is necessary for Civil I~fense of the City of La Porte, Texas ; and
Br I'f ~'UR T~~R RESOLVED that the City of La P rte will be res-
ponsible Ffor reimbursing the Texas Cur plus Property Agency for the cost
of acquiring awl. hand7_ixig the property and materi?1 received by the City
of La Porte; the maximum charge will beseven per cent. (7p) of the r`~de~al
Governments s acquisition cost price of the property don.at.ed to the City
of La Porte and the City of La Porte Till assume the cost of care and
handling incident to donations includi:ag packing, preparation for shippings
loading and transporting such property; and
