MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
LA PC~TE CITY CO~dISuICN - APRII, 5TH, 1957
4:30 P. M.
Regular meeting of the City Com~ission was called to order by Mayor ~. D.
Burgin with the follv~ring members, and city officials present: Commissioner
L.R. Rigby Supt. W.&. Arthur Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, Chief of
Police Glen Shepperd, arxi City Clerk Frank G. Balder. H. P. Pfeiffer came
in Late.
Alao preserYt were D.R. Castlemaa~ Don Dingle, and Mr. Davis,
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved,
Mr. Castleman and the Commission discussed small plane hangar tieduom space
at Municipal Airport. The request of Mr. Castleman was referred to the
Airport Committee.
Mr. Davis and Mr. Dingle discussed drainage on 5th Street. Sit. W.A,. Arthur
was instructed to remedy the situation.
Motion by Rigby second by Pfei.ffer~ that John Champagne be paid o~ weeks
salary ar~d be issued a Commission card as a Special Officer.
Carried.
Motion by Pfeiffer second by Rigby that Ordinance No. 517, which was read
in full by Mayor Burgin be adopted as read. The caption of such adopted
ordinance reads as follows:

RFSOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has heretofore passed arri
approved Ordinance No. 261, regulating traffic upon the pt~lic
streets of the City of La Porte; and
_ 'YPHF~tEAS, such ordinance Provides that the City Council sha11~
by resolution, determine and designate the character of all official
traffic signs and signals ar~d shall designate the location where
the same shall be installed;

Motion by Pfei.ffer~ second by Rigby that the City advise Hwnble Pips
Line Company that the City will require that the pipe lines on 16th
Street be buried to a depth of notless than four feet from the bottom
of the pipe to the grade established by the City for the surface of the
concrete paving on Sixteenth Street, provided that the present lines
be placed under the bottom of the presently existing ditches, and that
the Humble Pipe Line Company sha11 relocate the pipe lines along arty
section to be developed along Six teenth Street between Spencer Highway
and the North line of Out lot No. 32, at any time in the future within
ninety days after written notice from the City Commission of the City
that such section or sections willbe developed iYmnediately.

Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby that 2~ Gross Re~~pts check from
Southwestern Bell Telephone Co~pat~r, in the amount of ~130~..93, be accepted.

Permission was granted to Chief of Police Sheppard to dispense and be
responsible for Ethyl gaso7.ine pump, key to same was given Chief Sheppard
by Roy Evans.
Motion by Pfeiffer, secorxi by ~Zigby~ that the meeting adjourn.
