Regular meeting of.the City Commission was called to order by Mayo 114. D.Burgin,
with the follows rg members and city officials present: Commissioners L. R.
Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Special Counsel Jno. S. Ki.ibler, Supt,. of Public
Works W.A.. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker.
Also present were M6rs. 14f.A. Stabs, Mr. R:~. Akridge of catkin and Litch, .Axchi-
tects, and Mr. Matsin. _
Minutes o f the 1as t meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that Ordinance No. 517, be adopted as read.
The caption of such adopted Ordinane a reads as follows
AN ORDINANCE DETERMIDTIldG THAT IT IS ADVISABLE TO SBZ~L A. LEASE ~T
CERTAIN LAND BELONGING TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND PROVIDING FCft THE GIVING
O.F PUBLIC NOTICE OF SAID PROPOSED SALE. ..
Carried.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that A.I. Lov~ery be appointed Chief of
Police, at a salary of~$3L#5.00, effecta.ve May 15th, 1957.

Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that $10,000 be transferred out of -
' Manufacturers Trust Company Bond account of New York, to savings account in
the Bayshore Savings & Loan Association of La Porte.
_ Carried.
Harris County Civilian Defense letter was referred to Speai.al counsel Kiibler
far consideration and report at the rnsx t regular meeting.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that curb on~_T~ain Street, between Second
and Third Streetw, be lowered.
Carried.
+Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, to ratify tax cance]lations Nos. 5 to
25, inclusive.
Carried.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that the meeting adjourn:
