MINUTES -REGULAR MSETING
LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION -OCTOBER 3RD, 1958
7:00 P. M.
Regular meeting of the. City Commission xas called to order by
Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, xith the following Commissioners presents-
Iaxler, Boyle and Rroxn. Also present xere Speofal Counsel
Jno. S. Kiibler, Sr., Supt. of Public Works W. A. Arthur and
Mrs. R. R. Runnels, Asst. City Clerk.
Minutes of the last ~seeting were read and approved.
Carried.
Motion by Boyle, second by Laxler, that bill in the amount of ffi8'~.36
from Hou-Port Aviation be paid; same being to reimburse you-Port Aviation
the cost of loxering obstruction light pole and moving same to extreme
Southeast corner of air field.
Carried.
The. Mayor read a letter received from the La Porte Liberal stating they had
a parking space problem, what with people using the parking area in front
of their office. They xant it reserved for their customers. The City
refuses to issue pr 3cvate parking space on a public street. Request denied.
Motion by Laxler, second bey Boyle, that vapor lights be installed on
Main St. beginning at the 'Y" at Tenth St. and w. Main St., thence down
W. Main St. to the traffic circle and out to E. Main and Virgiaia Sts.
Lights x3.11 also be installed on S. Second St. and "A" St. and in front
of the Post Office.
Carried.
Motion by Brown', second by Boyle, that all permits to move buildings xould
be cleared through the Planning do Zoning Commission.
Carried.
Mr. Biibler is to study the present Building Permit Ordinance in order
that a more specific one may be passed.
Motion by Boyle, second by Broxn, that the Houston Light in g do Poxer Company's
bill in the amount of '293.86 be paid; same being to lower power lines at
the SE end of the NW-SE runxay of the La Porte Municipal Airport.
Carried.
Letter was read from the Southxestern Bell Tele phone Company regarding damages
caused by their contractors xhile installing underground cables in La Porte.
Commissioners Broxn and Osburn are to make a thorough check and advise the
Telephone Comparry of their findings.

Motion by Brown second by Lawler, to put s 2!~" culvert on Park Ave.
and an 18" culvert on Bayshore Drive at the request of J. w. Hazard.
Carried.
The Mayor advised Commissioner Brows to get bids on tires for trucks.
Motion by Brown, second by Lawler, to put shell on N. 8e~rent h St. aond
N. Eighth St. as requested by Postmaster Ruth Fuqua, thereby enabliag
residents to receive city mail service.
Carried.
1IY. A. Arthur was advised to trade Geo. Norris old lumber fkAm tank at
barn on shell,
Motion by Boyle, second by Brown, to pay the Recreation Association
X50.00 per month,to be retroactive to .last payment.
Carried.
The City Commission agreed to keep the grass cut at the Community House
ar~d keep driveway up with shell.
Motion by Boyle, second by Brown, to pay Norris & Stanford X25.00 for
used Servel refrigerator purchased for the Control Ce¢~ter.
Carried.
Mot ion by Boyle, second by Brown, that meeting adjourn.
