Pfeiffer, with the following present : Commissioners Boyle, Brows, Lawler and Osburn, Supt. ~P.A. Arthur, City Clerk Frank G.Baker, and Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler. Also present were Joe Dunham, Bill Baugh, Bob Gaylar, Dennis Dunham, Carl Leach, J. 0. Rollins and Mr. O~Sullivan, Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Carried. Hospital insurance for city employees was disa~ssed, and was carried over,. to be brought up on Friday, April 2l~th, at 7:00 P, M. Motion by Boyle, secorbd by Lawler, that Geo. Norris be appointed to the Zoning `J Board, to replace A. P. Pfeiffer, Carried. Mr. 0 ~ Sullivan wanted to knoaP the feeling of the Cc~nm;.ssion on helping to open and widen 11th Street. Mr. Arthur and Commissioner Brown wi11 meet with Mr. O~Sullivan Monday morning. Cormiissioners Osburn and Brown recommended that Dixie Tank and Bridge Company s Mr. Laws be conrtacted, and go over contract to repair elevated water tank. The Commission will discuss bond issue on Friday, April 2~.th, at 7:00 P.M. Motion by Boyle, second by Brvnra, that Supt. Arthur be instructed to remove posts along Spencer Highway in front of Hou-Port Airport, and repair fence in front of Cliff I~rde ~ s Flying Service. Carried, Motion by Boyle, second by Osburn, that Bayshore Baptist Church request be granted. Carried, Motion by Osborn, second by Brc~+m, that Commissioner Osborn be authorizeel to purchase t9ro tool banes fc~r new trucks @ X380.66, ,~ Carried, • Motion by Osborn, second by Boyle, to purchase boots and miscellaneous tools for X137.68, oil for ~7-29.35, and Power Take Off for X7.1.0.00. Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Brawn, that deed on lots 17, 18 and 19, in Block 135, La Porte, be executed to Floyd Foshee and wife, Nora L. Foshee, con- veying all their interest by virtue of Sheriffs Deed dated 25th of February, 1925, under Cause No. 710821. All t~.xes and Court costs have been paid to the City. Carried. I~4otion by L~ler, second by Osborn, that meeting be recessed to Friday, April 21Gth, at 7 ; 00 P. M. Carried. ~:PRIL 21.x, 1959 7:00 P. M. Regular meeting of the City Commission which was recessed on April 17th, 1959, reconvened at this time, with the following present:.Mayor H. 1'. Pfeiffer, Ccrnmi.ssioners Boyle, L~nrler, Osborn and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present vrere (Carlos Smith) Wm. H. Baugh, Joe Dunham, (Walter Nass), Curtis Morris, representing Hedrick and Stanley, Engineers. The hospital program for city employees was discussed at length. Motion by Osborn, second by Lawler, that Traveler's Hospital Plan be adopted by City for city anployees, city to participate X7,00 per employee. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Lawler, that the following Resolution be adopted as read: RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of La Porte that the City purchase group insurance covering the employees of the City, that an insurance policy be purchased fi~car. the Traveler's Insurance Company, providing the group plan insurance as proposed by said Company and approved bt,; the City Commission and that the premiums for such insurance be paid out of the pity General ~xid.s; and BE IT FURTHE'H RESOLVID that H. P. Pfeiffer, Mayor of the City of La Porte, be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to conduct all necessary negot- iations tivi.th the said Traveler's Insurance Company and to sign and deliver, on behalf of the City, contracts and other instruments necessary to secure such insurance. <'~ ', AND IT IS S0 ORDERED, Carried. • Motion by Boyle, second by La~rler, that Traveler ~ s Hospital insurance be brokered through La Porte Insurance Agency. Carried, I+Rotion b~ ®sb~trn., second by Lawler, that city file application with the Water Pollution Board of the State Department of Healthy with final approval by City Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler. Carried. Mr. Smith discussed water ground st©rage aru~. future extensions of water mains. Motion by Osborn, second by Boyle, that City buy 21~ reconditioned meters @ X18.50 each, for a total of $l~62.50. Carried. Cemmi.ssioner Osborn requested that the City buy 3/I1.-ton airconditioner far Supt. Arthur s office at, city barn, for X75.00, this being under the required ?100.00 for Commission action. Commissioner Osborn was authorized to make purchase. Motion by Lawler, second by Boyle, that accident policies on Patr©lmen not be renewed. Carried.
