P. Pfeiffer, with the folloaa3ng present: Commissioners Boyle, Broam, Lawler and Osburn, 6pecial Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, ~P.A. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker, Also present were Mr. Z~tendell Wilkes and I~r.lv'elson Lewis, representing La Porte Chamber of Commerce; h4r, Lams, with Dixie Tank Company, Dennis Dunham, Chief Jimmie Rollins, Doug Boyle, C. M, beach, Gould Crofoot, John Eggers, r4rs. Jno . C. Deemer, and Mr .Tommy Adams (Press) . Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, Carried. Attorney Kiibler discussedi the contract of Dixie Tank Company with Mr, Laws. Mr. Kiibler reccimmended that Commission not sign contract which Dixie Tank Company submitted, Motion by Osburn, second by Lawler, to authorize the City Engineer to draw plans and specifications for repair and painting of water tower. '~ ~~ Carried, t Motion by Bream, second by Osburn, that the action of City C'xnmission at the meeting of xpril 2I~, 1959, providing that the Travelers s Hospital Insurance program be brokered through the La Porte Insurance Agency, be in all things rescinded, and, that it be of no force and effect. Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Lawler, that the account of Mr. Clemens water account be adjusted, the discretion of the ~;V'ater Commissioner to be fiM~1.. Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Osburn, that next regular meeting of City Commission be postponed to May 22nd, 1959. Carried. Attorney Jno. S,Kiibler discussed the lease of Hou-Port Airport with the Ccunmission, Motion by Brown, second by Osburn, that R, A. Mc Clendon be appointed to the Zoning Board to replace Gordon Hyatt, Carried. • Motion by Boyle, second by Brown, that Fred Ruf f be appointed t o the Zoning Board, to replace Fay Wooley, Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Lawler, that X25,000 of the proposed bond issue be allocated to Fire Department for the purchase of fire truck, fully equipped. Commissioner Boyle voted "no". Carried. Motion by Boyle, that the area north of Main Street in the De ~'Yalt school section be allocated p25,000 in the proposed bond issue to be used for a lighted field, community building and parking area. Motion died f ar~ the lack of a second, Motion by Osborn, second by Laa~rler, that X32,000 be allocated in the proposed bond issue for two lighted ball parks. Moti on by Boyle, that original motion be amended. to include C oanmunity house, Amendment died far lack of second, Mayor Pfeiffer called for a vote on the original motion. Motion carried by 3 AYF~. Boyle abstained from voting, Carried. Motion by Lawler, second by Osborn, that X15,000 of the Fsoposed bond issue be allocated to improvement of City Ha11, Carried, Potion by Browny second by Osborn, that ~~1t3,000 of proposed bond issue be allocated to street and drainage. Carried. Mr. Boyle left the Canmission meeting at this time. Motion by Lawler, second by Osborn, that r,'k~Yor Pfeiffer be given permission to instruct theCity Attorney to write a registered letter to Commissioner Boyle, requesting delivery of Civilian Defense radio to City by ~~ay 11, 1959, and if he refuses or fails to deliver same by given d~.te, the City Attorney is instructed to proceed by legal procedure to rec3caim radio.
