MINUTES - R~ULAR MEETIN4 LA POSTE CITY COMMISSICb1 - ~EBR.UARY 5, 1960 7:00 P. M. Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to o r~ier by Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, with the following me-ambers present: Cci.ssio ners Bro~rn, Boyle, Lawler and Osburn, Supt. W.A.Arthur, Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, ani City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were Buck Thoaas, Luther Casteel, L. ~. Cullen, James A. Horn, Bob Campbell, C. D. fifo]f®, Mr. Roberson aryl Dennis Dunham. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, Carried. Mayor Pfeiffer asked fc~r bids on firemen's quarters. Three bids were received, as follows: L. U. Casteel X100.00 Geo. F. Norris 351,75 Leon ~. Cullen 300.00 /~~ Motion by Lawler, second by Osburn, that the bids be tablet for further discussion. Carried. Mayor Pfeiffer asked that the bids on pipe be opened. Two bids were received, as follows: Quantity Size Price Johns Mansville Sales Gip, 3000 Ft. 6" X7..63 Mabry Foundry & Machine Co, 3000 Ft. 6" 1.63 Motion by Osburn, second by Lawler, that bids on pipe be tabled for further dis- cussion, Carried. Mr. ThoYa.s appeared before the Commission to discuss the file that was laid at his property. He stated that the file was iffiproperly laid. Maya Pfeiffer asked Mr.Carlos Smmith of Wyatt Hedrick Engineering firm to check Mr. `Thomas's situation and offer recomanendations to the City Omission to correct same. Mr. Roberson discussed the construction of a swimming pool. Mr. Canes Smith reported t~i~ .tine Com~.ssion that the plans and specifications on paving and s t ~- sewers were ready for their approval. Motion by Lawler, second by Osburn, that the City accept bids on the storm sewer and paving, on March 11th, at 7:00 P. M, Carried, Motion by LaArler, second by Brown, that Marshall Dickerson be paid ~3l~0,00 for painting Coeununity building. Carried. ~ ~ ~~~ Motion by Lawler, second by Brown, that City Clerk be authorized to unrest in Goverment bonds, subject to Attorney Kiibler' s recommendation. Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Lawler, to ratify the pay-osent of X5,000 to Kiibler and Kiibler. Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Bror~rt, that City Clerk nil.l receive bids on Fire Truck at 4:00 P. M., Friday, February 26th, 1960, bids to b e opened and publicly read. - Carried. Motion by Boyle, seeand by Osborn, that the Commission ratify the cancellation of taxes for Methodist Church for the years 1945 and 1946. Carried. Motion by Lawler, second by Brown, that the City Commission rescind the action talflen pertaining to Mrs. Byer's building permit in the meeting of January 15th, 1960. Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Lawler, that City Con~tission ratify the purchase of pipe by Coanmissioner Osborn, in the amount of ~ 687.49. Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Lawler, that Mayor and City Clerk be authorized t© sign contract with Moore & Moore on City Hall & Fire Station. Carried. Motion by BraRn, second by Lawler, that the Commission pass a Resoluntion giving notice of it's intention to pass an ordinance submitting one certain ataendment to the existing Hc~e Rule Charter of the City of La Porte, Texas. Carried, Motion by Osborn, second by BroaQn, that all bids on the Firemenos garage apartment be rejected, Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Broom, that the firemen's insurance be renero~red with Continental Casualty Cmpax~r. Carried. Motion by Boyle, second by Lawler, that Eugene Hovey be appointed to the Zoning Board, replacing Bertha Cook. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Broom, that the meeting adjoure.
