MIlJUTES - REGULAR MEETING
LA PCRTE CITY COIt~lISSION -FEBRUARY 19, 1960
7:00 P, M.
Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P,
Pfeiffer, with the fo]1o~ring members present: Commissioners Brain, Lawler
and Osburn, Supt. ~. A. Arthur, City Counsel Jno. S, Kiibler, and City Clerk
Frank G, Baker.
Also present were Mrs, Moore and Jim Holley (Press), Mrs. Eugenia Miller,
Mrs. Ruth Huddleston, Mrs. Irene sharp, Bryan Moore, Doug Boyle, and Mrs.
Lois Compton.
Mr, Bryan Moore asked the Commission why the garage apartment that was sold
to Mr. Pressler was moved to 3rd street, 500 Block, without a permit. At
this point ~. Kiibler explained the sale and also the function of the
Zoning Board. There was discussion from several of tre group and they
expressed their disapproval of the building being moved to the proposed
location,
The Commission approved the issuing of a Night Watchman~s Commission to
Andrew F. Hemming, issued February 22, 1960.
• A letter from D,C, Dunharn pertaining to the dog pound and the practice
of catching dogs was read by A~ayor Pfeiffer. The letter was referred to
Comm3.ssioner Lawler.
Motion by Brov~m, second by Lawler, that the check from Houston Lighting &
Power C~p~r in the amount of X9,815.75, representing !~ gross receipts
for the year 1959, be accepted,
Carried.
The letter from II. S, Array Engineer District in Galveston, was read and
it was agreed by the Commission to endorse the application of E, I. Du Pont
de Nemours & Company, to dredge a channel and construct a wharf east of
their plant,
Motion by Lawler, second by Broom, that the meeting ad3ourn.
