Regular meeting of the City Commission was c211ed to order by Mayor Fi. P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Drown, Osburn, y"i Stabs ?nd Dunhaan, City Attorney C, L, Pitman and City Clerk wank G. Esker. Also present were Jim Counts, Tilman Cox, Mr, t:arsh and Jim Boone (Baytown ~ Sun), Doyle ~restergren, Norman Staashan, Carlos Smith (~'Pyatt C. Hedrick), ;'~;~ BRS, Jurger (Houston Post ), and J. 0. A2r, Counts that the City would provide space for the Emergency Car. ~' A4r,Counts also stated that the Corps would like to be included in the Civ- ilian Defense program. ~a r.2r. Smith reported charge orders to Century Construction Company for excava.- tion of open drainage ditches. i~ ,~ motion by Osburn, second by Brown,, that change orders to Century Construction ~ Company, as submitted by her, Carlos Smith, be accepted, r0 Carried. Carried, The ques tion of employees being able to pick up their checks at City Hall, was brought up. The Commission unanimously agreed that any employee can get their check at the pity Hall if they want to. n2otion by Osburn, second by Stabs, that the IL2ayor be authorized to secure the help of an interior decorator, pertaining to new City Ha11. Carried. The Commission will meet t~rith the Zoning Board on R4ay 18th, at 7:30 P.rJI. Y.4otion by Stabs, second by Osborn, that Ewell Brigham be appointed to the Zoning Board, to replace Fred Carey. C arrie~l. R~otion by Stabs, second by Osborn, that J. B. Kellogg be appointed to the Zoning hoard, to replace Nelson Lewis. Carried. The question of supervision of school children eras discussed. Commissioners Stabs and Dunham will report. Iulotion by Stabs, second by B rarrn, that 'Nm, P. HaUrkins be appointed Auxiliary Policeman. Carried, r,ROtion by Osborn, second by Brown, that Commissioner Osborn be authorized to purchase 1000' of )_" pipe, 500' of 2" pipe, and 300' of 3~la.'~ pipe. Carried. RZotion by Brown, second by Dunham, that Ordinance DIo. 585 be adopted as read.
