Regular meeting of t he City Commission was called to order by Ma7yyor. H. P.
Pfeiffer, with the follo~v~g Commissioners present: Dunham, Stabs Osburn,
City Attorney C, L. Pitman, Supt. VP,A, Arthur ~d City Clerk Frank ~. Baker.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Carrieel.
Motion by Osburn, second by Dunham, that the extras of X779.77, plus X98.60
for plumbing, plus 10~ retainage, (Contractor to pay plumber), subject to a
onE year guarantee on pool, and make minor corrections at pool, when approved
by Attorney Pitman.
Carried.
Mayor Pfeiffer asked that the bids on Community House be opened,
rQotion by Dunham, second by Osburn, that the bids be tabulated and turned over
to architect for tabulated. The bids were as follows:

The swimming pool will be closed June 27th, 1960, all day, for repairs by the
Contractor.
Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, to have Mayor Pfeiffer sign change order
No. 1 on the swi~aming pool contract.
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second by Osburn, that Estimate No. 3 on sire Station, in the
amount of x$3,270.96, be paid, also Estimate No. 3 on City Hall in the amount
of X957.51.
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second by Dunhan, that Estimate No. ~ of ?.~Tyatt C. Hedrick
on City Hall and I`ire Station, in the amount of X77.81, be paid.
Carried.
It eras recommended by the Commission that Engineers Certificate of Completion
and the Ov~rner~s Certificate of Accepta~.ce, be withheld,
Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that the Engineer ~ s Estimate No. 3, in the
amount of g~31~0.19, be paid. Carried.

C o?apa.r~r, in the amount of ~a53, 068.63, be authorized for payment .

Mr, Carlos Smith called rdr. Keith Cummings at Texas OYty to come to the
meeting to discuss with the Canrrd ssion certain items pertaining to the
Fire Station.
Tdotion by Dunham, second by Osborn, that the rdayor~s Budget for 1960-1961
be adopted, and the public hearing be set for July 1, 1960.
Carried.
Motion by Dunham, second. by Osborn, that the following concerns be notified
of the following increase in garbage charges:
San Jacinto Inn

Houston Yacht Club

The City C1er k was instructed to notify Houston Lighting & Pager Company
and Southwestern &~ell Telephone Compar{y that a charge of x$5.00 per load for
tree trimmings is being instituted, and have these companies check with
City Clerk.
I~r. Keith Cummings arrived from Texas City, and discussion was held on items
pertaining to Fire St ation rackle.
~.Zotion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that l~rs. Jean Zatopek be employed as
Clerk in the City Hall Office, at X200.00 per month, effective Jup.e 20, 1960.

b4otion by Dunha_~, second by Stabs, that Fireman Leach be paid the sun of
X150.00 as b ack pay for the time he was required to live in Fire Station
Garage apartment, in full.

Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that change order # 2 on Fire Station and
City Hall, be accepted.
Carried.
A.~otion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that Chas. Warrick be employed as dog
catcher, at $1.25 per dog.

City Attorney Pitman had contacted various insurance agencies in connection
• with liability insurance for swimming pool. He reported that the Balser Ins-
urance Agency would write policy for a minimum premium of X285.00, the Bay-
town Agency that writes Baytown pool coverage offered coverage for X315.00,
and that the La Porte Insurance Agency offered coverage with Lloyds of Lon-
don and the premium could easily b e X3,000.00.
Upon recommendation of Attorney Pitman; a motion was made by Stabs, second by
Osb urn, that the liability ins urar_ce on swimminb pool be placed with Robert
Stephens,

Motion by Osburn, second by Stabs, tlat the resignation of Alton L. l°lilcox be
accepted with regrets.
Carried,
P.'Iotion by Stabs, second by O~burn, that the City assume on the same basis
the increase in hospital rates for city employees on1.y (not dependents).
Carried,
Motion by Stabs, second by Osb urn, that t he Mayor be authorized to sign
electrical contract on pool and colored ball field, with Houston Lighting
~ Power Compar~y.
Motion by ®sburn, second by Stabs, that the meeting adjourn.
