LA PORTE CITY OONMISSIOI+1 -AUGUST 18, 1960
7:00 P.M.
Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P.
Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Bro~rn, Dunham,
Osborn az d Stabs, Supt. ~f.A. Arthur, City Attorney C. L. Pitman, and Cii~r
Clerk Frank G. Baker.
Minutes of the pretirious meeting were read and approved.
Carried.
The folloeir~g persons were also present: Art Janssen, Mr. Dixon, Bob
Stephens, Jim Curry and J. 0. Rollins.
Mayor Pfeiffer asked Mr.Carlos Smith for A report on the progress of the
Centtary Construction Compar~r. Mr. Smith reported that Century was making
every effort to complete sot~e of the work on lath Street, and that 3ust as
soon as the weather permits they wi11 clean up some of the work that has
been completed.
Motion by Osborn, secorxi by Dunham, that Estimate #~ of Centua~y Construction
Compat~r, in the amount of X10,962.00, be paid.
Carried.
Motion by Brown, second by D~ham, that the Estimate #6 of Wyatt C. Hedrick,
in the amount of X191.84, be paid.
Carried.
Nation by Stabs, second by Osborn, that Estimates Nos. !t & 5, in the amounts
of $2,520.00 and ~1,1~32.80, be paid to Pittsburg Des Moines Steel Co.
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Estimate No. b, in the amount of
$72.73, be paid. to Wyatt C . Hedrick.
Carried.
Mr. Stephens proposed to the City Commission that the City entertain the
thought of placing their insurance program with one agent capable of
ham the entire insurance program.
Mr. Curry stated that he did not believe he should pay the rates that the
City has set on garbage fee at his garage, which is X3.00 per month. Mr.
Curry stated he would psYy $1.00 per month for his hcme a~xi X1.00 pet' month
for his garage, and submitted this for the consideration of the Commission.
The Commission gent on record unanimously that Mr.Curry should pay the
X3.00 charge as billed on his garage. -

Mayor Pfeiffer read a letter frown Mr. John F. Duncan, Jr., pertaining to a
subdivision north of 5horeacres subdivision.
Motion by Stabs, secorxi by Dunham, that Ernest Brown, Jr. and Wyatt C. Hed-
rick give the City a report on 219.6 acres on High~ray 1~6.
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second, by Brown, that the labor statement of John Woen'nte)
aixl Jack Oliphant be paid, total material and labor to be $1711.00 (app
for dog keruiel. Total bill, X180.29.
Carried.
Motion by Dunham, secorr3 by Brown, that Commissioner Brown be authorized to
shell the 104 block of North Virginia, from East Main to North Polk.

to repair existing overhead doors in the old Fire Station, costing approz
imately X25.40.

Mot3.on by Stabs, second by Bran, that Ordinance No. 6111, be adopted as
read. The caption of such adopted ordinance reauds as follows:
